Whether we would have found out... Idk. We've found out about teams who backed out of bigger bowls before.

Bowl money goes to the conference and then split but not 100% evenly.

So you have the Big 10 with 12 teams. Lets say Nebraska gets the Big 10 13 million for their bowl game. It is split into 13 shares. The participating team in that bowl gets 2 shares and the other 11 schools get get 1 share each. So Nebraska would get 2 million and the other schools would get 1 million each. That way the participating team gets rewarded for that particular bowl. But that is also why almost every team loses money on bowl trips.

I am not sure on all of the conferences but I know in the Big 10 that they will reimburse the schools for needing to pay for unsold tickets. So like UConn, and many other schools, a few years ago who got raped by needing to spend all that money on unsold tickets for the Orange Bowl, that doesn't happen in the Big 10.

I think Nebraska is playing a better team in Georgia than they would have against Stanford...but Rose >> Cap One.
