Yeah I expect them to try to force a trade. Thinking back I can recall some stuff from his Dad. In the recruiting process the dad told Riley hey if you don’t offer him and we think it’s the best place for him we will still show up, then you got a big competition on your hands. I personally think it’s just a matter of time until someone challenges the draft again, he might be the guy to do it.
Could be.

Seems like a pretty big risk to me to put off that 150 million guaranteed pay day. I think his dad is just running his mouth.

Yeah, it's kind of an unnecessary flex at this stage

I give myself a C- for 12 team 1/2 PPR. Guys I wanted came off like 1-3 picks before me all night. I gotta do a better job next year haha

Looks solid, although I would've waited until the end for the kicker as you did with the defense. Assuming you picked 2nd?

For my prep, I did a bunch of mock drafts and focused on the Underdog ADP during my draft.

Yep. His by a wide margin close should have been the intro to the following sentence.

In too big of a hurry to break news to check his grammar. I believe I read he has a lot of things pre-written to get a jump on breaking things first on Twitter/X. He probably dumped the money details into a partial outline and muffed the structure a bit.

Picked 3rd of 12 teams. CMC went 2nd. First year drafting with these guys. I’m going to need to be more RB conscious next year. My first 4 picks were 3 WRs and a RB.

Just how the Dad is

Sure.

Cards are a confusing mess. They extend Kyler, so of course he gets hurt. Then with talk of tanking and not playing him much if at all this year, they name him a team captain. Are they moving or keeping him this winter? With their 2024 draft capital, they really are in great position if they want to go in any direction.

I'm not even talking about Caleb. I'm talking about pretty much all players who look to be high draft picks.

Where a player is drafted to, goes a long way towards determining how their career plays out.

I was told by a family friend who took a gamble by the Dad quitting his decent paying job to start his own company and became multi-millionaires that the biggest difference that money made was that it gave them significantly more options.

Imo, that is what NIL can do for players.

If a player is drafted by a team that isn't a good fit, they may not see that huge payday on their 2nd contract.

Look at Sam Darnold. He went to the Jets who were a complete clusterfuck at the time, to the point that even the head coach at the time said that it was their fault that he didn't progress.

If there was NIL at the time, maybe he returns to USC and he's drafted into a better situation the next season? Maybe he just isn't as good as everyone thought coming out of USC...but we haven't really been able to see that because he hasn't had any decent, consistent coaching until this year.

I don't necessarily think it will become commonplace, but I think it's something that will happen from time to time.

Yeah basically he gets 2 shots out of it.

I went WR/WR/QB/TE/RB from the 4 slot (10 teams). I waited for RB to fall to me really. Hated doing it, since I have always been RB early and often in past years, but tried to be flexible for once lol. We'll see how it goes. I totaled my draft picks vs ADP for most of the draft (ignoring K/Def) and I averaged about 10 slots (1 round) beyond Underdog ADP, so that's promising in terms of value.

Underdog ADP is a good measurement IMO, since that site only does best ball money drafts, so the drafters are more invested and experienced. Yahoo and ESPN have a lot more casuals baked into the ADP.

The transfer portal could also hurt teams like USC, who don't exactly have a stellar record of creating successful NFL QBs. Carson Palmer and a lot of also-rans and busts really. The lure of USC may be more buoyed by LA marketing via NIL deals than the school itself IMO, at least at QB. Times change though, maybe Caleb reverses that trend.

Exactly, it would be a whole lot easier to make the decision to stay in school for another year if you know you're getting a couple million or so for it.

I mean usc doesn’t…but Lincoln Riley does

How many nfl QBs and HEISMAN winners and finalists does he have?

Not sure he gets credit for Hurts, since he was pretty well formed by Alabama. Baker? Ecchh. Kyler? Seemingly falling a bit short (ba-dum-bum). Rattler is as of yet undetermined and on to the other USC.

He does seem to have a type. Small or borderline small QBs that are light on their feet.

They still went 1-1

Hurts got benched and had one of the worst cfp performances without him

Murray was a borderline top 10 guy before a bad last year
