A day late for Throwback Thursday but I'll share anyway.

From 1990-1995 I worked for the Glendale News-Press in Glendale, CA. Covered HS sports and some Glendale JC games. Every now and then the editor would throw us a bone and let us go to the pro games if there was a local angle and that had to be covered for us to go.

Well, my first time ever that I went to a Dodgers game for them I was in line for the pre-game meal. Vin Scully was behind me and I turned around. He finished talking to the person behind him and smiled at me and said, "Hi young man, I don't believe I have had the pleasure of meeting you. My name is Vin Scully."

I was speechless......LOL. We ended up having a fine conversation.

#Fuckingicon

I've heard that about him. Dude is so humble that he introduces himself like that because he doesn't assume that people know who he is. lol

Like I didn't know who the fuck he was? LOL.

Almost the exact same thing happened when I worked for Bosley in 2003 or 2004 when I worked at Bosley Medical at 9100 Wilshire Blvd in Beverly Hills......I was in the elevator almost on my way up when a hand put his hand so the elevator doors would open back up. Well, the doors opened and FUCKING MAGIC JOHNSON got on the elevator.

He said, "Thanks, I have a meeting to go to on the 7th floor." (My destination was the 9th floor.)

I was looking at him straight open mouthed......flies would have got in if there had been any.

He laughed and said, "You alright?"

And then I just started gushing about how I am die hard Lakers fan and loved the Showtime Lakers......He smiled and we talked briefly until we got to the 7th floor.

Back in the mid 80's I had to listen to the fucking radio because my parents were super cheap and didn't want to pay for Prime Ticket (the channel most of the Dodgers games were on if I remember right)......I'd remember his voice anywhere.

Yeah, some people just have voices that you just know who it is. When I worked at an AT&T store in Palm Springs, this older guy comes in to the store and I'm thinking..."That guy looks like a really old Adam West".

He walks up to me, starts talking and I just said "Batman". lol

I have met both Batman and Robin (Burt Ward). I actually adopted a Great Dane from Burt Ward...his wife is a certifiable nut though. lol

Back then, when the Dodgers would have an afternoon game, I loved to take my radio to the beach and listen to the Dodgers game there. Usually would end up with a bunch of people moving over where I was and all of us listening to the game.

He'd pick Houston likely for only a couple reasons.....1) He likes Watson, thinks he'd stay AND wouldn't miss much time or 2) Only 32 of these jobs and no other options

Houston organization is a hot mess with tot without Watson.

Flores can do better. Sitting a year is a better option than taking a bad job.

A young head coach is often 1 bad job away from never getting another shot.

Might be right, but he may share a different opinion than you. some HCs never get another shot anyway. Might have ties to Houston, if he's married, perhaps wife does, might just be thinking only 32 jobs and I better take it.

what's worst case? Get fired shortly into the deal and be paid not to work? Would think he might get some extra leeway since they just dumped a coach after 1 season.

Ready to say that the Bucs lose tomorrow or next week. They’re already banged up. The Eagles may not win this game but they’re nasty and the Bucs will have known that they’ve been in a football game. If the Eagles don’t beat them they create enough attrition that they get got the following week. Tom Brady is 2-3 vs the NFC East in playoffs.

The biggest mistake a lot of franchises make is being too invested in sunk costs.

Tua isn’t bad. But he just doesn’t have the upside to be an elite QB.

Lots of people were knocking the Cardinals when they gave up on Rosen after 1 year. Their handling of that situation should be a lesson to other teams.

QB is too important. Don’t hold that young guy because you want him to develop into a star. When your football people are telling you he doesn’t have it, he probably doesn’t have it.

Upgrade when you have the opportunity.

Agree on upgrade if you have the opportunity. At the same time, I think Tua is an incomplete. I want to see the guy when he’s protected, with at least an average run game behind him before I make my determination on him. I still think he could be a top 10 QB and a guy to build around. But will concede that’s a projection and if you can get a Watson or even a Wilson/Rodgers for a few years that is worthy of diverting from Tua.

He was the only competent option in pass pro. Bucs will be shaky there. Gannon has been a two high safety keep it in front of you rally to the football kind of team all year. Man, I hope he doesn’t play that shit tomorrow. They’ll be down AB and Godwin. They’re down their top two backs in pass pro. They have Slay to give them a punchers chance vs Evans and if you blitz you are going to force them to protect some with Gronk or Braite. This is going to be malpractice if they don’t try and bring heat tomorrow vs Brady down weapons and protection.
