The Chargers at 25-1 are exactly what the Eagles were preseason last year.

and lost. Oregon is where players go to look good and lose.
I don’t disagree. I just don’t see how that translates to Herbert being different. I think bringing back Staley was a mistake. I think last year he was really exposed in tight games. Felt like most of the blame for a blown 27 point playoff lead lies with him.

The Eagles ticket didn’t cash last year though. Did you play the type of bet where you can hedge and sell off the play later in the season? That would change the math for me. The secondary market for these kinds of bets are pretty solid investments.

Staley has several bad coaching decisions in his short tenure that have cost them close games as well. Some guys are just better as coordinators.

not a huge fan of Staley but Kellen Moire is going to remind everyone just how bad McCarthy is in Dallas.

I didn’t limit it to playoff game. I said “big game” so that I could cite how poorly he’s done against playoff teams he’s faced and it allows me to go back and point out how he often lost those games at Oregon.

That is fair.

Like I said though, still pretty early in the journey for him.

I just think if people are betting on Super Bowl long shots, it is best to look in the NFC.

Because Chiefs, Bengals and Bills just own the top of the AFC. Hard to picture someone outside those 3 breaking through.

Lol you can always hedge any bet you make, just takes more cash. I’ve hedged some big bets over the years. I can’t do the online betting thing yet here in OK. That’s what you are talking about where they try to get you to settle bets for less.

The NFL coaching carousel is the perfect example of the Peter Principle. You don’t know where a guy truly fits in until he fails at the position one spot higher than the one where he belongs.

The Eagles were in the NFC though.

They didn’t have to go through Mahomes, Burrow and Allen just to get to the Super Bowl.

Look NFC for your longshot.

Yeah that’s probably smart. Anytime I’m in Vegas and do well in poker I’m always going to put down a fun bet I can watch for the season. All this was, a fun $300 bet that would pay $7,800. If they somehow made it to the Super Bowl that would likely give me a reason to take a free trip to Vegas for the Super Bowl where I would hedge it.

I wish the NFL would rethink it's coaching salary structure. If you have an elite coordinator, why make them a team manager and take them out of the role they excel? Coordinators should be able to make more than the head coach if they bring that kind of value. Let the specialists do their jobs and make the head coach more about leadership, accountability and inspiration.

I get that. At the same time, I can’t see anyone not named the Niners Cowboys or Eagles coming out of the NFC. I have to look at it but I may take a futures bet on somebody to either win the Super Bowl or go to the Super Bowl and then look to bail. A $50 ticket on the Chargers pays $1250. So if they get a nice start and are like 9-3 and flirting with a bye, that ticket could be purchased on the secondary market for something like $225-300. This would entail the in season odds on the Chargers going to something like 7-1 or 8-1.

How close are you to the state line with Texas? I know you play a lot so that’s why I’m asking. May be worth your while. All you have to do is maybe drive 1-2 miles into Texas and you can do everything on your phone.

Texas doesn’t have gambling of any sort other than poker rooms, but Kansas does. I’m about 2 hours from there. I can old school gamble but can’t do all the online stuff yet. We will get it eventually, our Governor has been at war with the tribes.

Because I’m a one trick pony and see the sports world through the vantage point of my teams, the Eagles are out ahead of this. OL coach Jeff Stoudtland is arguably the best OL coach in America. The Eagles have had him on staff through Chip Kelly, Doug Pederson, and now Nick Sirriani. He’s paid like he’s an offensive coordinator. He’s longer in the tooth and has no aspirations to be a coordinator or head coach. He likely makes 2 times more than the next OL coach on the salary list. The Eagles tried to do this with Jonathon Gannon offering to match the salary Arizona was going to pay him to be head coach.

Damn. That sucks. Both the tribes and the state are leaving money on the table. Legalized gambling has been an economic boom for individual companies and states where it’s been set up.

The tribes are cleaning up here, I mean cleaning up. When it passes they will hire Draftkings or someone like that to run it so they have no risk. All they care about is the slot machines so they know to the penny what they will make. The Governor tried to make them renegotiate it all but the courts sided with the tribes. I don’t see us getting it now until a new governor is in place.

That’s a shame. Politicians need to understand what’s best for the populace. Legalized gambling generates a ton of tax revenue.
