They never would do the shift anyway if guys were just trying to get on base. Analytics bs has killed the sport. The old addage hit em where they ain’t completely solves this problem.

I would have preferred the Sixers to do the Harrell deal with Whiteside. He’s a better fit as a 10-12 minute back up for Embiid. You can play him in the regular season when Embiid is out. And Whiteside could actually be in the playoff rotation unlike Harrell.

I don’t like the rule but I get it and agree. I played baseball for 15 years…I wouldn’t compare it to any sport. Hitting a 100 mph is pretty much impossible for me lol
Also, if the rule is put into place we should see guys averages go up which is fair considering the record books. Guys didn’t have to deal with this back in the day, at least not to this extreme level. If a guy hits .330 now it’s like hitting .360 or .370 with all the analytics. Not just fielding but pitching too. They also have to face so many different pitchers with how teams use their BP these days
