I hope the NBA seasin is canceled. I heard today that Disney's rag came out with a list of the leagues top players & LeChoke was #1. That's all I need to know in terms of what they know about Sports in general.

How can a player who hasn't WON or done ANYTHING when it counts be the best player in the League?? LMAO!!

team game. barely (this is the NBA after all), but it still is. i dont like the championship count as being part of an individual's ranking.

I live in Buffalo, I think I'm almost numb to pain by now.

didn't realize it was the cold in buffalo already :smow:

i heard but didnt read the story about Bryant Gumbel likening David Stern to a modern day plantation owner ... i guess this comes about from the same story

Bryant Gumbel senses NBA commissioner David Stern talking down to NBA players guy Billy Hunter who is black. Racist overtones.

Clearly these people never heard Gary Bettman's tone in 2004 when he condescended to Bob Goodenow, who is white. Get a grip.

The NBA blows. I don't see why Bill has such a hard-on for it.

Well, Bill did grow up in Boston and watched some pretty good Celtics teams in the 70's and 80's. Just my opinion, but I think the 80's was my favourite time to watch the NBA.

And I totally understand that. The nostalgia of the hey day of Bird and Johnson are awesome memories. For myself, the Jordan era was, and still is my most favorite memory I have of the NBA. .. but those days are long gone.

Id say the apex of my NBA fandom was probably the days of Jordan as well and getting to see the glove dish of to the the reign man who would then penetrate to the hole and jam it down hard ... he did that alot

/on and off the court

there's an opportunity to pick up some new fans, but a risk of pissing it right back....
Hopefully the NHL and NHLPA will get a good lesson from the NBA clusterfuck though

Hey @sportsguy33, when you make choice between Kings/Clippers tix next summer, may want to wait to see if NHL's playing. CBA expires in Sept

I'm hopeful they already learned that lesson from their own clusterfuck.

These guys never learn, NHL players escrow checks are being held up from last season over whether or not the $25 million that the city of Glendale gave to the Coyotes falls under the category of "league revenue".

If the NBA can't salvage any of the season, hockey has a TREMENDOUS opportunity this year between mid-January and end of March. Once football is over and before baseball starts, they are the only sport running. They need to make the most of it - especially in the southern markets, as SJ said. Think about it - sports go out of their way to define an exclusive day or night for themselves. Saturdays are college football, Sundays are NFL and Sunday night baseball. Friday night fights. Thursdays are NBA on TNT. Monday night football. For 2-3 months, the NHL is going to have EXCLUSIVE professional US sports. No NBA, no football, no baseball, not even any soccer. EVERY night is going to be hockey night. If they can't build on that, they need to fire pretty much their entire marketing sector.

Only 1 problem. If they don't get a new CBA done before next season they'll be in the same situation the NBA could be. They need to get a deal done to continue the momentum they're building.
