So once again a Philthy idiot proves you can spout nonsence around the world in an instant.

These are not my quotes on what a pure shooter is. You can Google for yourself.

"In modern basketball, it can be the point guard, shooting guard, or small forward. Two great examples are KD and Melo. I believe Melo is a more pure scorer because he is not outrageously tall nor lengthy. He just has a wet jumper and uses his body well to create space to score.

"Great shooters are often called pure shooters because they have a smooth, free-flowing shot or a soft touch. Some players think a pure shooter is naturally gifted - born that way."

"A pure shooter is one who is mechanically sound and consistently accurate. Shooters who are not mechanically sound have a tendency to be streaky and have shooting slumps."

Got to love FightinPhilthIdiot and the others who think there is an actual definition of a pure shooter.

Someone who shoots 35 percent from 3 is nowhere in the stratosphere of the best pure shooter.

Lukas strengths are about 6 other things before that.

Got to give Mazzula some credit.

I have been hard on him, but he has gotten the Celtics here. The road has been easy up to the Finals, sure.

But at the very least he hasn’t hurt them.

Can’t blame him for last night.

You can’t….

Shot selection has something to do with that

And hitting the most difficult shots

I will push back on that a little.

His 3 point percentage is a bit misleading because of high volume and high degree of difficulty in some of the shots he takes.

Shot selection has a lot to do with that.

Free throws though?

Easiest shot in the game.

A pure shooter isn’t missing 1 of every 4 attempts.

Yeah while part of FTs is mental (at lower levels also conditioning), I’d say the cut off to be in the convo is the mod to high 80s from the line

Was hoping he said it in a joking way but I found the video and nope this is it.

Yeah. He started thanking people and I thought he was getting ready to announce a deal with someone else… then he said that.

Good for him.

Okay I can buy that

I agree.

Mid to high 80s as a minimum.

Really for the top dogs you want to see them over 90. Or at least close to it.

Yeah I just know fts have such a mental aspect I’m giving some wiggle room

Agreed.

Would also say though, being mentally strong is a key component to being a pure shooter.

Helluva game last night by the Mavs. Glad they didn't play like that the first three games.

Celtics looked completely uninspired. Hope they don't look like that Monday night.

I'm hoping the rest of the series looks like last night. Go Mavs...stick it to Jason Tatum and the Celtics.
