I don’t need it. Americans will be fucked out of AS spots

I don't think that's true.

The All-Star game is about watching the best players, not the best Americans.

Who would be losing a spot? If anything, Americans have an even bigger chance of making the team.

No you have that backwards...the top all stars for both teams are solid but to make 12 foreigners vs 12 Americans, the bottom 3-4 foreigners will be players not good enough to make all star teams normally. So some Americans that would have made it will be shut out

Likely World players:

Giannis
SGA
Luka
Jokic
Embiid (if he's even on the court)
Sabonis
Wemby
Sengun

Now we're down to the guys that wouldn't be good enough to make the team if it wasn't this format:

Markannen, Wagner, Gobert, Murray, Porzingis, Anunoby, Siakam, Zubac...

I like the concept but bks is right about the problem here

Boo.

I don’t like this.

They keep tinkering with new formats that have no chance of working.

Put cash on the line. Lots of cash.

Winning team takes all.

Only way you getting a competitive all star game.

Markannen, Gobert, Porzingis and Siakam have all made the ASG roster in the last few years so not exactly a stretch. Wagner, Murray and Zubac have been putting up All-Star numbers lately too.

And based on last years ASG rosters these would be the best American players:

Jalen Brunson
Donovan Mitchell
Jayson Tatum
KAT
Jaylen Brown
Tyler Herro
Dame
Evan Mobley
Trae Young
Steph
Lebron
Kevin Durant
Ant Man
James Harden
Jalen Williams
Anthony Davis
Kyrie

Tatum won't be playing sadly because of his injury, Trae and Kyrie were only in because of player injuries. And guys like Herro, Mobley and now James Harden aren't exactly guaranteed a spot every All-Star game.

So based on this who would miss out unfairly because of this format?

5 of those dudes getting left off.

You going to have All NBA players getting left off all star teams in favor of far less deserving international guys.

I really don’t like it.

Especially since people use all star selections as 1 way to compare player resumes.

What tlance said

And your list doesn't include guys on the rise that could be all stars next year, or injured ones that might not be injured next year

There simply aren't 12 foreigners worthy and there are more than 12 Americans

I disagree. But I guess we'll find out in about 9 months time.

The ASG was going downhill fast. Something had to change.

How should we know what these guys will do next year? Bottom line is there aren't 12 all star worthy foreigners

You literally just listed 16 international players, 12 of which have made the ASG not too long ago

It is at the bottom of the hill. Got no problem with them trying new ideas and this isn't some end of the world thing, it's just going to screw over a few American players.

tlance suggestion to put a ton of money on the line for the winners might work, why not try that? Would $2 million per winning player motivate them a little? It might, not the amount so much as the WIN: we got paid, y'all lost

I can list a few Americans to add to your list that 'made the ASG not too long ago'

If you gonna put Porzingis in then you gotta put Kawhi and Butler and Booker and Fox and many others on the other list

As I said it's no big deal just going to screw over a few guys, you'll see

As long as it's Celtics and Clippers players that get screwed over...it's fine...even preferable.

Does it matter?

About 5 guys who should have made the team won’t make it.

That is a problem.

This year would have probably been guys like JDub, Young, Mobley, + 2 more

Every year players don't make the ASG who "should have made it"

Every year players don't make an All-NBA team who "should have made it"

All Star game viewership is in major decline because people are getting bored of it. This might shake things up a bit.

It’s a big deal for the players contract wise and legacy

Im as Red, White and Blue as anybody, but i personally think we will get the shit kicked out of us. The World team will take the game seriously, will be fired up to play and will play as a team. If we did the same we would win, but I think a lot of our guys will be on a 3 day vacation
