As much as I love the 49ers, I was more hurt by the Bowman injury. When I saw his leg being bent in such a way it really bothered me. I literally fought back tears. I just hope he's able to fully recover and have a long and successful career. Not because of me and my support of the Niners but because of him and my support of him as a person.

I have a feeling he will be back and continue his dominant play, Patrick Willis vowed to aid @NBowman53 on his recovery. "I'll be with him every step of the way."

If anyone has the resilience to come back from this its 53

Agreed. It's so weird having the same avatar as so many Niner fans.

Luckily for me my direct tv was shitting on me during the game and I didn't have to witness it live. I would have lost it especially with the no fumble.

An MRI revealed that San Francisco 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman suffered a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Bowman will have surgery to repair the ACL, but the MCL is expected to heal on its own, the source said, adding that Bowman is expected to be ready for the start of the 2014 season.

Bowman was injured in the second half of San Francisco's 23-17 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game when two players fell into his planted left knee as he made a play on a goal-line stand.

He appeared to have a fumble recovery on the play, but officials ruled Seattle running back Marshawn Lynch ended up with the ball.

A candidate for the NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award, the inside linebacker was taken off the field on a cart.

Bowman, a four-year veteran, led the Niners in tackles this season with 145.

One question I have is how does a torn MCL heal on its own? Doesnt that only work if its partially torn?

Bowman is such a great dude, and when I saw that, I was so upset for him. Then to see the refs take that play from him pissed me off. The dude just got his knee destroyed and still maintained the ball, and they took it from him.

I really hope this is accurate in that the Bowmans injury has a better chance being a full recovery and not something that hurts his ability to play the game in the future as some here worried about.

I couldn't bring myself to watch the replay and I still haven't. As soon as I saw the players reaction, I turned away. Good to see it was only a torn ACL and not a broken leg on top of it.

I know it will never happen but if Bowman can't start the season, I wish Willis or Bowman's replacement would wear 53 until he returns.

Navorro Bowman - LB - 49ers

49ers ILB Navorro Bowman (torn ACL, MCL) won't undergo surgery for "two or three weeks," and is without a timetable for a return.

The swelling around Bowman's MCL must dissipate before he can go under the knife. It's the same issue that delayed Rob Gronkowski's operation. Coach Jim Harbaugh declined to speculate on when Bowman might return, saying "he’s got grueling rehab ahead." Bowman is highly questionable for Week 1.

I wish Takeo was still kicking around. Too old at this point.

What about a cheap London Fletcher as a stop gap?

Just looking for stop gaps until mid season.

With Willis there, I think Wilhoite and Skuta will be fine filling in. We just need some CB's that can play in the air better.
