But it wasn't a 4 team playoff. That's the best argument you got for trying to say UofM's road to the title was just as difficult as Ohio State's?

:laugh3:
But you were comparing your teams performance in a 12 team playoff to a team who played in a 4 team playoff. :noidea:

You wouldn’t have won a national title under a 4 team playoff, like Michigan did last year. I mean, if we are going to compare apples to apples. Making it to a 4 team playoff was much more difficult.

It’s much harder to play in Eugene and win in October than play at a neutral site in January. It’s even tougher playing your rival the last game of the year and winning. Just ask your team.

Every college team would choose a 12 team playoff over a 4 team playoff. Why? It’s an easier road to a national title.

No I was saying Ohio State's road to the national title was tougher than UofM's. If you choose to disagree that's fine.

And it's not a 4 team playoff anymore. How many more time you gonna bring that up?

If you think winning two games to get a national title is the same as having to win four I don't know what else to say.

Remember, the road to a national title also has a regular season attached to it and often a conference championship game. It’s not just 4 games vs 2 games. Regular season games use to have greater consequences and you skirted those consequences this year. A team with a 4 team playoff didn’t have that luxury.

How could it be tougher than last year’s road, if Ohio took last year’s road (4 team playoff), they wouldn’t have even made the playoffs?

You are the one who said this years national champion had a tougher road than last years champ. How can you compare them if you don’t look at both their roads? (A 4 team playoff and a 12 team playoff)

Remember, the road to a national title also has a regular season attached to it.

The 4 teamer might be tougher to get to (well, unless an SEC benefit of doubt team) but once in the 12 teamer is tougher.

For some reason, you guys want to separate the regular season from the playoffs when comparing seasons.

The Michigan vs Ohio game was pretty much a playoff game every year with a 4 team playoff. This year the results of that game didn’t matter.

Pretty much every regular season game was a playoff game in a 4 team playoff as there were one loss teams left out of the playoffs many years (an undefeated FSU team was left out). In a 4 team playoff, ND would have been eliminated early in the season with their loss.

On top of that, during the regular season, you rarely play neutral location games. Making it even tougher (ask Ohio about playing in Eugene or in AA the past few years)

So, I disagree, when looking at the totality of the season that a 4 team playoff system was easier to win a national championship than a 12 team playoff system.

You can disagree all you want but what I said is fact. Tougher to get to the CFP in a 4 teamer. Tougher to win once there in a 12 teamer.

FYI, I never really disagreed with your last comment....a case can be made for either though.

Well, let’s go back to the original comment. What do you think? Was Ohio’s championship run better than Michigan’s?

I’m including the whole season, and not just the last 4 games of the season. That’s why I think their undefeated season, with a conference championship, beats a two loss playoff champion. I’m biased though.

Oh! So you’re just including the playoffs only. Ok, I can agree with that. If you just count the last 4 games, Ohio has it.

You did say that your national title was better than Michigan’s last year even though you guys lost both years to Michigan. That’s why I disagree.

1. Well duh! That's why I didn't mention the regular season.

And I stand by what I said. Yes Ohio State's title is better because their road to the championship was tougher than UofM's. My team beat four ranked teams to win it all and your team only had to win two.

Okay just gonna put this out there. Our national title is better than yours! :heh:

A national title has more than 4 games attached to it. Just my two cents.

Here’s what I’m curious about, which championship game got the bigger ratings? Ohio v ND played on a national holiday so I’m assuming they would beat last years championship game.

Anyone got the numbers yet? I haven’t seen them posted.

Deflection at it finest. When you got nothing to say try to change the topic. :laugh3:

Good for you.

Deflection? Ok. I just thought you might be tired of talking about the other thing.

Please continue if you’ve got more to say. I’m all in!

I imagine that yesterdays game beat last years game in ratings. Especially with ND being in the game.

You know I'm only talking about the playoffs and not the entire season. Already told you that.

Your two cents involve choosing to think having to win four games for a championship is no different than having to win two games.

Yes deflection. Exactly what you're trying to get away with.

What do the ratings of last years title game and this years title game have to do with the fact that my team had to win four games to get the trophy and your team only had to play two?

It was just something I was interested in. This is a game thread after all. :suds:

Honestly don't really care. We are current champs and 1 day removed from winning it. If you want to say yours is better have at it.

I like mine better because it just happened and we are reigning champs, though.

Honestly no idea. Might depend when UM/Washington game took place. Had the NFL playoffs started? seemed like CFP coverage was a lot less once NFL playoffs started this season.

Totally understand. Michigan had the greatest 8-5 season in program history and we have no one else to thank for that than Ohio. Some both can appreciate them.

Enjoy the championship. It was a lot of fun last year for us.
