I am not talking about the ad campaign in the 80’s, although that is what was the driving force to the many double blind taste tests since then. In all of those Pepsi has won.

Coke tried “new coke” because they always lost, because they are coke the managed to make an even worse product, which is impressive. Now all Coke advertising is about brand and brand alone. Even they realize they have a far inferior product, they just know that people are sheep and will keep with what was there first, not go with what is best.
