I'll tell you where I think Chip is really making a mistake it's during training camp. Andy Reid use to record every training camp with Cameras way up on those scissor lifts at Lehigh. HE would go Live every practice for about 45 mins. This allowed him to evaluate his players. Chip does not, and has little if any real contact. Now if Chip was seeing his Studs like Bennie Logan and Fletcher Cox blowing up his offensive linemen every damn live practice, perhaps he may have been able to address the blocking scheme, and or deficiencies as they were. Now it seems it is a day late and a dollar short. Just my two cents.

I think he screwed up when he went after running backs instead of oline guys. Trenches Chip...trenches.

I think Chip believed anyone could play guard in the NFL. He was wrong. He also believed Bradford could be rehabilitated with a change of scenery. He was wrong, the guy is a loser, plays with no passion.

I said on another board $55 million to RBs, $5.00 to OLmen. Guess he didn't learn from Buddy Ryan.

^^^ This. You can work with mediocre-solid RB's as long as you have a good OL, but you can't just throw two journeymen types into the OL and not expect to have issues ... especially with a non mobile QB.

Our o-line is by far the biggest problem on offense. Doesn't mean other parts haven't been bad, but the o-line has really hurt us. Had we kept Mathis and signed a player like Orlando Franklin in FA, this team could look a lot different after 2 weeks.

Interesting - though IIRC part of the problem is that with the new CBA rules the amount of contact and life hitting allowed in camp is seriously limited. Something Andy did not have to contend with.

Given that we've been hammered by a couple of 4-3s and we play 3-4 i doubt live hitting would have given you much insight into that.

Aikman mentioned it yesterday...Eagles were on top of the NFC east by 1.5 games with 4 games to play last year and didn't make the playoffs. They have lost 5 of their last 6 games dating back to last year. Not sure he's convinced these problems are the players fault. Time will tell.

It's hard to say it is the players fault when the rosters from the end of last year and the start of this year are different

I think Bill Davis is over his head as a defensive coordinator, I think the talent on his defense covers up a lot of his flaws - the front seven is really, really good and they have kept the team in so many games over the last year plus and if it wasn't for bad play calling and suspect play from the secondary, ti would have paid off even more

At kelly's press conference he looked much diminished, the swagger was barely present. He also looked tired and a touch bleary-eyed.

Hard to have a lot of swagger when you can't beat a team down its two best players on your own home field, when your QB looks like he has piss running down the side of his leg and when your guards look like some random guys you pulled off a moving truck in south Philly.

Yet - apparently - the guards were better on the O-line than Jason Kelce and Jason Peters, at least per PFF. And often it was Kelce's or Peters' man (seemingly) coming through. Celek was horrendous as well.

Well, no argument on Celek. And Peters looks like he has lost a step.

The issue with Kelce IMO is that he is a smaller center and needs to play alongside some tougher guards to be effective.

I sure hope PFF is right on this (and I think they are). Because if all they need is to have their established players play up to their normal level that seems more fixable than to get something out of someone they never have before. This OL group has went through alot of adversity over the last few years, and they always seem to pull together.

Two questions...from last season, how many new starters on the OL?...2? Regardless of what you look like in preseason...imo a new OL needs 5 or 6 games as a unit to gel....Bradford hadn't played in a real game in what 2 yrs nearly?

I just don't think you can pull an OFC with several new key faces together that quickly and it be hitting on all cylinders out the gate.

The guards both played some last season at RG (and didn't play particularly well). But the one starting at LG, Allan Barbre, is new there.

I think the poor guard play is a false narrative. FWIW, PFF says the culprits were Kelce and Peters. These guys have been in the system for several years and have started and had success before.

The issue is this offense has gotten too predictable under Bradford for several reasons.
- He rarely tests them deep.
- He doesn't execute fakes very well so the defense knows what is coming. If your not going to do Read Option, you need an equivalent like the play action.
- The coaches are afraid to have him run read option as it exposes him to hits.
