Finally watched the television recording of the game last night - I had caught the game on XM radio because I was on the road on Sunday. Anyway, I thought Dalton was impressive. They gave him a limited gameplan and didn't ask him to do too much, but he really executed well for a rookie. He seemed to see all the blitzes, make the right call, and he doesn't get happy feet in the pocket. He was 10-15 and two of his incompletions should have been catches.
The downside to his game is that he either can't or won't be asked to throw much further than 10 yards very often. Maybe they don't want him hit, or maybe they are concerned about his accuracy. Unfortunately his two starting receivers are probably more suited for a vertical passing game, so it's not the best match.
Dalton could be a poor-man's Rich Gannon and really succeed in a WC offense with the right receivers around him. Here's to hoping that we don't completely waste AJ Green's potential with 5 and 6 yard routes.
