He's a brilliant guy, but his commentary is some of the worst I've ever heard. I mean, I loved his book, I even have an autographed copy, but that was written with the help of at least one editor. I'm guessing if he had someone to edit his verbal comments he might be okay, but instead he says what he's thinking at it often comes out all wrong.
I thought he retired after the '13 WS. Didn't know he was still doing some Cards games.
Dude's 75, cut him some slack. If he makes it through an entire broadcast without shitting himself, that's probably as good as he can hope for at this point.
I usually don't mind commentators (I'm one of the few people out there who likes Joe Buck) still Mccarver is particularly grating to me. That "Family Guy" clip is classic though.
