Looks as if we agree on Gruden, not so much about starting him right away.
Well, it has been 1 weekend and "Haskins is turning heads" already. I'm sure the ideal scenario would be to let Haskins sit and learn under Keenum but...the temptation is too great to create headlines so its inevitable Haskins starts.

So far so good. I want to see him when live bullets are flying though. When he puts up the same or better numbers as Cousin's in the same amount of games I will be impressed.

Right now I am interested in seeing how Sweat does.

i think he has a ways to go and will have to earn the position . it was rookie mini camp and as such it was a glorified OTA

i would temper the hype , but be happy it went well

Personally I don't care about the numbers. I just care about Ws. I totally understand that this is a product of the entire team & not just the QB. This is also not a knock on Cousins in any way. Ultimately I want Haskins to be the guy that leads them on a playoff run with the help of a lot of other guys. Who knows if/when that will occur.

Agree. Heck RG3 looked good for an entire season & well you know the rest. It will take years to find out his worth. Well for starters I like the fact that he has a chip on his shoulder & a thirst for knowledge about the QB position.

So you would have been okay with Trent Dilfer?

If it meant that the Skins also won the SB then absolutely. I would not be OK say if you are talking about placing Dilfer on an otherwise mediocre team. This isn't a beauty pageant - this is about trying to ultimately win the SB. I would much rather root for those Ravens then say the Fouts era Chargers who put up video game #s but ultimately didn't win much.

Now if that situation ever occurred (highly doubtful in today's NFL but the recent Broncos did that to a degree) then their next priority after the SB would be to find a true QB. Oh well - this is not the case here. I am grateful for what Cousins did during his time with the Redskins. My pt is that Haskins doesn't need to be compared to him & should stand on his own. Ultimately he will - fairly or unfairly - be measured on Ws & Ls & not stats. We will see.

Why does he have to be compare to Cousins? Cousins is a Viking not a Redskin. Very few here miss Cousins. Let's let Haskins be Haskins shall we...

Haskins does not need to compare to Cousin's. W's and L's are the most important thing. You don't want a QB that throws for 4,000+ yards and 25+ TDs?

I agree I will be happy if he is a QB that throws for 3200 yards and 17 TDs if the team wins. Of course for Haskins to do that D will have to be very good along with the run game. I am okay with that. That is team football, something we haven't seen in Washington since 1991.

Haskins probably has the strongest arm of any QB he's ever coached, dating back to Tampa. RG3 had a gun....but I think Haskins might be equal to that. Moving his feet in the pocket, reading a defense, shifting protection, and calling plays from the huddle need to be worked out, but I'm sure it's nice to have a live arm in camp.

Yep - he has a long ways to go. However what is encouraging is the fact that this kid apparently wants to learn as much as possible & will do whatever it takes work wise to improve. Remember he only really played one season at Ohio State. To facilitate this the Redskins have tons of coaches and mentors available to him (Gruden, O'Connell, A. Smith, etc). I just hope that fans don't get down on him if he has issues early on - that is almost expected since failing is usually part of the learning process.

Rooting for him. We really need him to lock that position down once and for all.
