The kids brought this one home. Cruz and Cano looked like a couple of grumpy old fucks with bum hammys. Great win. Confidence builders for the kids. But this team can't reach the playoffs if Cruz and Cano don't get their heads in the game, shake off their owwies, and earn their paychecks.

After seeing Phelps last night, I think he made the bullpen stronger, so that's a positive. I still believe this team need a legitimate #2 or #3 starter, so I would love for them to make a push for Verlander. I like Darvish as well but I don't think that's going to happen. If they get a pitcher like Verlander, he slides into the #2 spot and Felix at #3. Paxton is an obvious ace for this club at this point.
What would it take to get a guy like Verlander? I think O'Neill would've been ideal but we don't have him anymore. This is where Dipoto really screws up.

A loss to Sale is expected which is what made Paxton & Felix's starts that much more important. If we win today it won't be against Sale, it'll be against their bullpen. We just need Moore to keep it close, and you never know, that late ass game may be what we needed to have a chance against them. You never know how players react to no sleep.
