Who do you get the most out of for the least amount of money (discluding entry level contracts) on your team?

For the Pens, it is kind of hard because most players are making what they are worth (+/- only a little bit).

I will go with Brooks Orpik. He makes 3.75, which is pretty fair, but he still brings a lot to the table (and probably could have been paid a million more on the open market). He was sixth in hits last year with 255, chipped in 25 points, and was a +6 (not that impressive, but the Pens struggled as a whole in the D category last year and Brooks is usually stuck with the defensive liabilities). He's also one of the only people who will call the team on its shit (hope he gets an A this year).

Andy Greene easily. He's going to be making 750K this year and last year he was far and away the Devs best defenseman. Only player on D that I trusted carrying the puck in our end during the playoffs.

You know it just occurred to me - Burrows, Kesler, Torres. When do the Canucks acquire Steve Ott so I can truly embrace this team?

Last year it was Matt Moulson. 30 goals & he made something like 875,000. This year it will be a bit different. He's making 2.4 million.

My pick for this years Islanders bang for your buck player is Blake Comeau. 18G 17A in 61 games last year. It really looked like he'd figured things out at this level during the second half of the year; then he got hurt. I'm not sure what Blake's contract is but, he's an Islander I bet it's under 2 million.

Based on my own formula and some other evaluation, the best bang-for-your-buck player on the Penguins is Tyler Kennedy, outperforming his salary by $1.5 million. He's scrappy, but doesn't deliver bonecrushing hits, and is probably a little below average defensively, so I would say his overall value is about $1 million net above his salary.

Pascal Dupuis is worth about the same value above his salary, maybe a little more. The formula says he's underpaid by $0.9 million, but he has plus speed and is above average defensively. So I'd probably stick him at $1.1-1.5 million above his salary.

So in conclusion, Pascal Dupuis is the Penguins' best value contract.

Troy brouwer, his somewhere in the 1-2 mil range. A gritty player who has the ability to score.
