I was thinking about some of the things that the "ditch the NCAA" crowd would be most into. Maybe they're thinking that with their own rules, they can increase their number of scholarships. How big of a difference would that make?

Well you can sorta break that down.

Basicly 1965 is when it started with unlimited substituion and no scholarship limits. This lasted up until 1992 when a rule was set to reduce scholarships from 99, to 88 then finally 85 starting in 1994.

So who was the best program 1965-1994 when you could recruit with no limits?

Winning Percentage '65-'94 link
1. Nebraska .820
2. Penn State .785
3. Alabama .772
4. Oklahoma .765
5. Michigan .761

National Titles '65-'94 link
Alabama 5
Miami (FL) 5
ND 4
USC 4
OU 3

If you take away scholarship limits, that what it did look like. I would imagine a few other teams would break out but those are pretty much your top programs the last 50 years with a few others right there like Ohio State and Texas.

King of Today's Football 95 - present

1. Ohio State .773
t2. Florida .767
t2. VT .767
4. Texas .753
5. Nebraska .731

Boise State cracked the above ranking as well as the '65-'94 crowd but they are a shitty little nobody program who didn't crack D-1 ball until 1996 so yeah, they are omitted. Lucky I even mentioned them. They just seem to be lucky.

Wouldn't matter to Bama. They would still sign 50 people per year

Ah the same tired joke from when Saban first took over and he was weeding out the bad apples. We sign around 25 now and our kids also have one of the highest graduation rates of any school but Notre Dame and Stanford. It seems like you are picking but just wanted to put that out there for the fools who dont know better.

ForkEm is such a whiny little pseudo fan.

He actually said he's perfectly content to quit watching Wisconsin football entirely because he would "still have the packers"

That's the difference between places like Oklahoma, Alabama, Nebraska and Wiscy. Their fans just don't even hold a candle as far as loyalty and respect for the game.

I was not really being serious....but since you want to pretend that it was "just rooting out the bad apples" Alabama has "oversigned" basically every year since Saban has been coaching there. He has also been caught red handed revoking kids scholarships on signing day when they had been committed for months, and even telling kids they needed to go home and gray shirt when they were already enrolled and moving into their dorms. Now we can debate whether oversigning is right or wrong, but denying that Alabama has not been at least one of the worst offenders of this practice is nothing but putting your head in the sand.

Here we go again, Nebraska fans and their "respect for the game" bullshit. I never knew Huskers fans were on par with the fucking Domers in terms of holier than thou douchebaggery.

Please join me in ignoring him so that I don't have to read the little psychopath's bullshit when you quote him. But yes, they have moved up the "most annoying people in America" list in the last year.
