Sure dude, we can defer to them... to a degree. But something tells me if the consensus from the pundits was that we were going to draft Scherff, your level of deferment would drop dramatically.

It certainly would not. As I told you previously, I was on board early with Scherff because I thought he was an OT, and that's what I view as our biggest position of need -- by several country miles. Then I started reading the reviews on him and realized he was a guard. You know the rest.

And it's not a consensus from all pundits but those that are respected. You need a consensus since respected pundits can also be wrong. That's why you need to canvas them for a prevailing view. Sometimes there's not one. That's the case with who's the better of Amari Cooper and Kevin White.

Come on, the public servant thing is a ridiculous analogy. My point here is that where you've got people who've developed an expertise in a certain field, has a developed track record, and has the resources and time to devote to exploiting that expertise, you've got someone that deserves some deference. The challenges be made regarding Fowler are absurd. Nearly everyone believes he's the real deal, and because some of those that are offering that assessment up have that expertise, they deserve their due.

If you've got medical issues with joint pain and you visit Kerlan & Jobe (the doctors that service teams like the Dodgers) and they give you advice on the pain, do you question it? Of course not, unless there's something absolutely clearly wrong with their analysis. With Fowler, there's no such thing and it's really the height of arrogance for anyone here to say they know more than folks like Cosell.

Will Fowler bust? Maybe. But even if he does, you can't ding Cosell's analysis if he busts for reasons that are unforeseeable (e.g., he decides to espouse religion and devotes more time to that instead of football). In the end, there's a reason why some of the pundits are held in high regard. And it's preposterous to think people on a message board can rise to the same level as them.

yes i do question it and you are a fool if you dont research things yourself

and yes i can ding him

You continue to completely not comprehend what I've written. I NEVER said you shouldn't do your own research or question what pundits said. NEVER. My point is about deferral, not blind faith.

Then that's utterly foolish. You need to defer to people just about everyday in your life. Like I said, that doesn't mean you trust them blindly. If you've got cancer, you can look stuff up to get some background on what you've got. But when an oncologist recommends a plan of treatment, most prudent people would defer to that judgment after, as just stated, getting that background info. If you're still unsure about that recommendation, you get a second opinion. But at some point, you've got to defer to a medical specialist's judgment because you don't know nearly as much as he or she does. If you don't, this is truly anti-vaxxer territory.

Scherff is expected to go ninth or tenth to, respectively, the Giants or Rams, by most accounts. Teams right before then would love to feign interest to entice a trade up by those teams.

Or teams could ACTUALLY be considering taking him before the 9th-10th pick..

They could. But doubt it. Given the fact that few have him going that high and the timing of this all, you've got to question the motivation in floating this out now.
