I will try and find it to post a link, but if anybody has the ability to check out the Dan Patrick show interview it was really good. A lot of cool things from the old days and he talks about the modern great QB's. Really good listen as a football fan, not just a Niner fan.

Good interview. Heard that key word "progression." Kap has played less than two full seasons as a starter. Would really like for him to work on his reads and progression. Joe is so modest, but a fierce competitor. It was truly a privilege watching him play.

I was surprised at how honest Montana was in his critique of Colin Kaepernick's progress on Mike and Mike this morning. His analysis was spot on and agrees with mine to a tee.. He said that Kaepernick only uses the outside of the field and that is the easiest area for DBs to cover because they can use the boundary as an extra defender. He said Kaepernick needs to learn how to use the middle of the field which is where all defenses are vulnerable and until he does he will never get any better.

When asked why Kaepernick does not use the middle, Montana said he was mystified as to the reason because he sees wide open players all the time when watching the games. He believes it is a lack of confidence and not a lack of skill though.

Even if he can't figure out progressions, force him to use the middle of the field. Give him a seam route or a slant as his primary read until he's comfortable throwing there.

Joe can sound like John C Reilly from time to time.
