Assuming things work out as anticipated, we could be watching a Phillies lineup like this in a year or two. We're talking balanced power from both sides of the plate, a murderers row. One thing is guaranteed - we'll see most of the new guys this September and in 2017 ST. It will be entertaining to see how it all shakes out, pending injuries, trades, who can adjust to MLB pitching, etc. Anyway, this is a lineup to die for.

__Lineup_____________Depth (5 of 8 listed)
1 Herrera LH, CF
2 Crawford LH, SS____Galvis, LH/Valentin, S
3 Franco RH, 3B
4 Cozens LH, RF
5 Hoskins RH, 1B_____Joseph, RH
6 Williams LH, LF_____Asche, LH/Altherr, RH
7 Rupp RH, C_________Alfaro, RH
8 Tobias S, 2B_______Hernandez, LH/Kingery, RH
9 Pitcher
SP: Eickhoff, Eflin, Velasquez, Nola, Thompson

We will still be stuck with lardass in 2017 jvett, unless we exercise the 10 mil buy-out option. Otherwise, we will pay him 23 mill. I hope they take the option!

I really don't see how they can do anything else but exercise the buy-out, retro. Howard's been done for months. It's scary thinking he could be here next year. Klentak won't do it to the fans.

I agree. Not exercising the option would be almost as ridiculous as the original contract. There's no way they pay him 23 million next year when they can replace him for 10 mil. plus minimum salary

We shall see Cedrique. The Phillies have such a stiffy for lardass, it wouldn't surprise me if they completed the contract in one of their classic dumbass moves.

If Middleton and Klentack are indeed in charge of this circus Howard will be paid 10 million to walk away. Unless some one is willing to take him off our hands in the next 24 days. Which we all doubt.

I would fantasize that someone would want lardass's services but the reality is closer to what you've stated Frizzle. The best scenario is the buy-out but again, I wouldn't be surprised if the FO does the opposite.

It's really a no-brainer. They could never justify keeping him - he's obviously shown he cannot hit in any situation, whether off the bench or as a platoon player. They'll cut the cord as soon as they can, like the day after the season ends.
