1) Nugent - You miss a 45 harder in Denver with no wind? Really? Whole game changed right there.

2) Green - Nice hustle Hollywood.... You keep running on that deep ball and that's a touchdown that wins the game.

3) Burfict - Personal foul with the game on the line. Selfish.

So let's see..... Nugget is inconsistent, AJ takes plays off and Burfict is a headcase. Just a normal day at the office.

I thought Green could have made a much better play on that ball even after running a questionable route. He's an elite talent but there are occasional mental lapses. I thought the Brufict call was BS.

It's amazing how you guys can watch that game and come to the conclusion that the Bengals just played bad in the 2nd half and THAT'S why they lost. No, this game was lost on purpose. Not all of the players are in on it. Most good conspiracies only have a few key players. There's a reason these coaches get shuffled from team to team seemingly regardless of success or failure. Once you're in...you're in.

No, the Bengals were never winning that game. The Broncos didn't "adjust." The league wants Peyton. They want that story, damnit. They were never going to allow Denver to not get that bye. Osweiler damn near screwed that up for them. Then in OT when AJ threw that incomplete pass you have some idiot get on in 2 seconds flat and say "that's a fumble!" No, that's never been a fumble....yet people on here and the nfl board game thread start parroting the same. The power of suggestion is real. It's fascinating to me. It was too obvious to not overturn so they had to go with the call on the field. However, had the Bengals somehow scored they had their plan B story line....which is the Broncos got screwed.

So the Broncos did nothing different? So the whole going hurry up no huddle offense in the 2nd half was exactly what the Broncos did in the 1st half? So switching to a zone defense in the 2nd half is exactly what the Broncos were doing in the 1st half? Did you watch the game?

He watched it. I watched it. I wasn't impressed by anything the Broncos did, just disgusted with things the Bengals did. The Bengals left at least 10 points on the field, dropped an interception on one of Denver's scoring drives, tackled like shit in the second half and stopped running the quick passes and inside runs that they were successful with in the first half. Did I mention the Bengals had used all 3 of their first half timeouts 18 minutes into the game and that they didn't target one of the 3 best receivers on the planet for the first 22 minutes of the second half?

The Cardinals beat the Bengals, the Steelers beat the Bengals. The Broncos benefited from some good fortune and poor play by the Bengals.

The Bengals aren't winners when it counts. They're chokers and mental midgets. Just the way it is. A 12-4 season will translate to yet another one and done playoff trip.

Nothing has changed. Status quo intact.

You are looking at this from one side of the coin though. The Bengals benefited in the 1st half from catching everything in sight. I mean did you really think all those sideline tip toe catches was a sustainable way to run an offense? The Bengals also benefited from some terrible tackling by the Broncos in the 1st half. I mean that opening drive the Broncos had the Bengals stopped on 3rd down with 2 guys ready to stop I think it was Gio 5 yards short of a 1st down to have him break both tackles and pick up the 1st down. That happened quite a bit in the 1st half.

Also not like the Broncos didn't leave points on the field either. Missed field goal, fumble deep in Bengal territory, a couple of plays where the Corners were breaking on the play got a hand on the ball to only have the Bengal receiver catch it. Both teams had some thing go their way and some things go against them. It is the way of the NFL especially when you have two top teams very evenly matched roster wise fighting for playoff position.

Also the reason they stopped running the quick passes is because the Broncos went to a zone defense. It made it that much harder for AJ to read what the defense was doing. When they were man coverage across the board it was easy to see where to go with the football. Zone coverage made him have to take that half second longer waiting for a player to break open in one of the zone holes. This allowed the Broncos pass rush to finally start getting home rattling AJ. All you had to do was look at his eyes in that 2nd half and AJ looked very confused of where to go with the football. The Broncos made adjustments as much as some of you don't want to admit. It wasn't just the Bengals fell apart in the 2nd half. THe Broncos had something to do with that.

can we move the "nfl is fixed" to another thread.

I agree with the OP, what this thread was originally about.

Don't forget McCarron not paying attention to the ball when it was snapped right to him to end the game and get himself hurt.

Also, the offensive line decided not to block in the second half.

I would also mention the coaching staff not adjusting in the second half to counter the Broncos halftime adjustments.

Denver has a very good defense, all their play makers were there to make plays, they were at home with a hyped up crowd and we had a QB making his second start. It is not an excuse, we screwed the pooch after getting in control, but that was a tough game to win. New England didn't fair well there either.

Given that McCarron was playing in his second start, I chose to forgive him..... Andre Smith's fat ass was so gassed anyway that McCarron was bound to fumble or get killed before getting into field goal range..... Probably why he fumbled anyway as he was probably sneaking a peak at the train (named Miller) that was getting ready to fuck up his world.

The other guys are players that have been at it for a long time. They are guys that need to step up in a big spot particularly given the fact that we were starting a young qb.

Oh I forgive McCarron anyways, but it was his fault on the snap by not watching the ball get to his hands. He was too busy checking out the defense on the snap and got ahead of himself. That was on McCarron.

Burfict's PF I think was kinda bogus as well, as the guy was in bounds at the time Burfict began trying to rip the ball out of his hands, looked like Burfict realized he was not going to get the ball out regardless of how hard he was trying and shoved the player out of bounds. I understand why the refs through the flag as violently as the Denver player went out of bounds, but it was mostly because he is trying to fall out of bounds and then Burfict giving him a very hard shove on top of it. Too close to the sidelines and refs to have that hand fighting for the ball and then the giant shove.

I'm not as enamored with McCarron as some others on here. But I hardly blame him for Monday's loss. The kid hung in there despite piss poor protection, typical cowardly conservative coaching, AJ Green quitting on a beautifully thrown potential TD pass, Nugent missing a makeable FG that swung momentum, the defense completely letting up in the 4th quarter, Burfict putting the Broncos in FG range with a stupid fucking penalty.

I chalk this up as a typical Bengals loss. The coaching was a joke, the play calling got gradually more and more conservative and nary an adjustment was made at the half. The defense played great, until the game truly mattered. Typical poor tackling and stupid penalties 2nd half. AJ Green makes a bonehead mistake when the game is on the line. This team is just not capable of winning on the big stage. They just aren't coached well enough and don't have the mental toughness to finish the deal. One and done here we come.

I'm not ready to crown the kid, but he played pretty damn well for someone making their second start. That third down pass to Sanu was particularly impressive..... Very few starters in the NFL can stare down a rush and throw accurately into the middle of the field on third and long. I think the guy is going to be a good pro..... He might not be a superstar, but he's better than half the garbage that starts in the NFL every week.

I've given him his due credit. That 3rd and long dart to Sanu was a big boy throw. Very few seasoned veterans make that throw, much less a guy in his second start.

As I said, he was far from the reason the Bengals lost. If anything, the coaches went out of their way to keep him from making an impact when clearly, AJ was capable of moving the ball against a top defense. The stage wasn't too big for him (fumbled snap aside).

I blame the coaches (shocker) to extent, but this loss was on the entire football team.
