I would like that pick for sure. He is the fastest LB's in this years draft, is smart and hits hard.

1st - OLB Ryan Shazier, Ohio State (big, strong dude with CB speed at 4.38)
2nd - C Marcus Martin, USC (best C in draft, if we are lucky, he would have to fall for some reason now)
3rd - DE Will Clarke, West Virginia (player similar to Dunlap, but lacks some fundamentals)
4th - RB Jerick McKinnon, Georgia Southern (the next Ray Rice)
5th - CB Dontae Johnson, N. Carolina St. (big press and coverage guy)
6th - QB Logan Thomas, Virginia Tech (all the tools and size to be great, lacks fundamentals)
7th - DT Ryan Carrethers, Arkansas St. (big, strong dude to anchor the middle of the defense)

I have to agree with Kramer here... I don't see Manziel making it out of the top 5. I think if you're Cleveland or Jax, you need to take a shot with him. And I wouldn't be surprised to see Houston try to get him.

Is there a mock draft you like, or pick you have in mind that isn't an OSU player? So far, I've seen you drool over:

The RB, CB, and LB from OSU...

At least the LB is the best sense. I wouldn't touch Roby with a 1st round pick, nor the RB...as the position just doesn't justify the value.

Shazier looks small to me.

I don't care for Roby that much. While I agree Hyde is not worth us picking in the 1st, you have to admit, a Carlos Hyde on this team would be awfully nice.

I can see how it would be disappointing that I would like 3 Buckeyes, all of whom could be 1st round picks (Hyde least likely, but possible).

Lots of players I like, but many of which will never fall to us, so no point in debating it.

Shazier runs a 4.38 - 40 as a LB. That is faster than most CB's, and faster than every other LB. Roby is a tall physical CB who runs a 4.4 - 40. Hyde, well he is a beast. Not sure how you can't enjoy the idea of one of these guys on our team whether it be in the first or second round.

And they all played for Urban Meyer, so we know that they are young men of exceptional character.

Good effort.

At the top...I think that's still in play for ATL, but only if HOU comes off the two 1st rd pick demand.

Top 5

I think we'll really see how much teams value systems. HOU will either pick Clowney or trade the pick and I think they will trade the pick.

I could see your top 4 happening...JAX might decide to go DEF and take their chances on getting a Mettenberger in the 2nd. OAK won't be smart enough to take an OT, not with Manziel on the board.

Wasn't going to say anything, but agreed 100%. College football expands well past Columbus and even out of B1G territory if you look far enough.

My issue with Roby is, I've read more than one review that pretty much paints him as an Ass-hole who thinks he's already a NFL pro-bowl talent. One scout's take was that if you don't have a strong locker-room on defense, and some clear veteran leadership at CB, he could be a real problem, and that coaches struggled at OSU to reign him in.

Now, take what you will out of that. I will be the first to admit that I don't follow OSU all that closely, but when a few people share sentiments like that, it gives me pause. Add in that he's a dumbass who gets pulled over for DUI before the draft, and I'm backing away.

I think Hyde on this team would be scary. He's really good, and a true power back with decent top end speed, but not elite speed. I think he would be a perfect fit with Gio, but as we've all agreed, RB in the 1st round just isn't good value unless you are gettng a true complete player, and even then....

Shazier is the best fit. I think at OLB, he would be good in nickle packages with his speed and could matchup decently, though I do worry about his ability to play 3 downs and how he's going to match up against the run when a 320lb guard/tackle is engulfing him. If I'm drafting a LB 1st round, I want a guy that I think can play all 3 downs, but maybe I'm splitting hairs on this. At 24 I know you're not going to find too many players who are going to step in and be complete packages, and so I think Shazier would be the best fit, overall.

I'm hoping a few teams pass on a QB or two early, and drop a solid QB down to 24, and the Bengals can just move back and grab an early 2nd round pick, and pick up an additional 3rd rounder or 4th rounder in the process...this draft is really deep.

Why pass up the opportunity to add TWO to the list?

You're right, I messed up with the Cleveland picks. I originally had Mack going to the Browns with the 4th overall pick and Bortles going to the Vikes with the 8th pick. I made the switch but never changed the Browns second 1st Round pick. I'm going to do a whole new mock this evening with the corrections.

I have mentioned many players outside of the Big10, and definitely outside OSU.

Those are the only three players from OSU I even really look at unless you start getting into late rounds.

I mentioned your boy Logan Thomas. No critique on him? I think he has the size and speed, along with the arm strength to be a great NFL QB, but all the tools in the world will not overcome intelligence on a football field, instincts and fundamentals. What is your take on those parts of his game since you are a V. Tech fan?

Bridgewater is a gamer..... The guy looks like a great teamate and a great leader.

So did Leftwich and so did Tebow. I suppose the scouts are right in their concern with his small hands and horrible practice sessions during pro days.

I'm just desperate for a new qb.
