With just 20 days until pitchers and catchers report to ST, the Major League Baseball Trade Rumors web site is trying not to fade into oblivion as the Hot Stove navigates through its biggest draught since before free agency began (officially) in 1973.

I hear the word 'collusion' a lot this winter. I don't think that is what it is at all. I think that neither the players, the owners, nor the agents fully understood the impact that some of the new guidelines in the latest CBA would have on offseason player movement.
* The new 'double jeopardy' luxury tax.
* The requirement to surrender a first round draft pick to a team that doesn't extend a qualifying offer to a pending free agent (not new but the implications are better understood now).
* Owners who are only interested in their team as an investment and give the idea of competing an after thought.

teams don't lose first round picks now. They lose a 2 and a 5 IIRC.

But the rest is on point.

Plus teams are getting smarter. You have silicon valley geniuses taking an 80% paycut to work for baseball teams.

They should just put chicks in bikinis wearing a different mlb hat every day to keep people visiting the site.

MLBTR has always been a bunch of people who sit around and look at rosters, see who had a suck year, then look at other rosters and decide who ought to be traded. We did that when we were kids with bubble gum cards.

I'm sure Derek is to blame for the recent surge in homosexuality among men in southern Florida, but I don't think the shitty hot stove is his fault.

Eh, owners realized they were paying players too much in salary if a mediocre playing like him ended up with enough money to become apart of an ownership group.

So what does MLBTR say about the latest rumors surrounding Jeter's love life?
