Nos has a big edge in the top 3 in the batting order while Milk has an edge in lineup depth until you get to the ninth spot who will be an automatic out in this draft. Milk has a nice edge in the bullpen IMO and a slight edge in the starting rotation. If Milk didn't have Bagwell third and Arlie 9th I would vote for him, but mistakes like those can be the difference when the teams are so close. Nos

why so hard on bagwell and Arlie?? Bagwell is a career .297 hitter with .408 OBP, had 6 seasons over .300 and 7 seasons over .400 OBP...
Arlie is my 9 hitter... and he is a top SB player of all time... Yes, his BA and OBP are below par, but it is similar to other starting lineup players on other teams... He has similar OBP to ernie Banks who hits 7th for nos... one is a power guy one is a speed guy...
But it is nice to see someone give a reason for a win/loss...[/

3rd hitter in this draft should be the best of the best. Bagwell is a notch below. Arlie would never get on against these pichers to use his speed

Bagwell might be a notch below... and I agree Arlie is very weak for this... But Arlie does more than just run, he also was a very good defender...

I just don't think they are bad enough to LOSE because of them, like you said... Especially Bagwell, he might be a notch below, but he is not that far below... Look at Frank Thomas who was Nos, #3, Is Frank Thomas THAT much better than Bagwell?? Yes he is better, but I wouldn't say it is that significant at all...

This is where I'm at with comparing these #3 hitters. I loved Thomas as a kid, and respected him as a grown kid for getting fat and old like a normal human. But offensively he's not significantly better.

Nos' 1-2 hitters are significantly better than everyone's though. Both the best at where he has them.

In my head, Bonds is the best #3 guy, but he's probably the second best cleanup hitter. I'm gonna need minute to look at pitching.

100% agree with this assessment. I thought those couple of huge mistakes might have cost Milk winning the draft. He's the only guy I thought that had a rotation that could match mine. He has a good pen. What kills him, to me, is the Bagwell pick, the Latham pick, and his batting order. There are two guys on Milks bench. Mize and Killabrew, that I would start in front of Bags(and I'm a fan), but the capper is having Bagwell hit 3 in front of Bonds and Ott. No possible way Bonds isn't 3 hole. Great team, critical errors

Agreed he's not much better it sure did seem like it, maybe cuz i'm a Twins fan and got to see him much more.

Funny thing is Jeff Bagwell was born May 27th 1968 Frank Thomas was born May 27th 1968

so you guys would have liked to see 3 or 4 lefties in a row?? Killebrew over Bagwell in the 3 hole?? Bagwell is almost a 300 career hitter compared to killebrew being a .258 career hitter... Am I really losing because of this??

I honestly think this is the best team i've ever drafted in our MLB drafts. I got me in this one.

No, I think you're losing because my team is better, people are just looking for a reason so you don't ask for one.

Yeah and they were good ones huh?

I still stand by what I said before, you dont need blazing speed at the top when you have the best hitters ever up and down your lineup. Why take a chance getting picked off with Rickey when Cobb is at the plate?

Hell no. Bonds 3, Killabrew 4, Ott 5, and Molitor hitting 9th and playing 3rd instead of Latham and I'd vote for you

My dad is exactly 13 years older than both!

It could be seeing him so much more that did it. (I was in The Big Hurt FanClub as a kid lol)

But when you look at their career stats, especially over a 162 game average, they're crazy similar. Few less Ks and a slightly better OBP for Frank, a few more runs and more SBs for Bagwell. I never really had thought of Bagwell as underrated, but I think he is. He has to when most of us looked at him batting third and questioned it.

I really like both of these teams. Even though neither have the righty/lefty flow that I usually look for. Both are at the top with rotations and imo milk has the best bullpen.

I'm still looking at things...
