Missouri AD Mac Rhoades, who formerly held that job at Houston, hired in house when he made special teams coach Tony Levine our HC after Kevin Sumlin bolted for TAMU. For the sake of Tigers fans, I hope that Mac made a better decision this time than he did then. Seems to me that hiring Herman shortly before he left UH might have informed Mac that hiring in house might not be the way to go.

So what has this guy done to deserve a head coaching job at a SEC school? Defensive coordinator for Memphis for a few years and 1 year as defensive coordinator for Mizzou.

It was really odd that their dc stepped down last year to coach some no name team. I figured Odom was being groomed for the job but not this soon.

The offense needs an overhaul though

Despite their record, Mizzou was actually a pretty decent defensive team (11th total defense, 7th scoring). He's young (39 years old), and he's done a good job developing and maintaining the talent on defense. He might be the shot in the arm this team needs, but he definitely needs some help on the offensive side of the ball. I imagine he'll be making some pretty big changes with the staff on that side of the ball.

He was there for 1 year not 3-5.
