Defense sucks, the new QB isn't looking too good, do they even have a RB?

Wow, a lot of teams look bad this year

I realize it's the first game AND MIami is the defending MAC champs (not a total pushover), but Mizzou has a lot of improvement to do if they want to challenge for a Big12 title this year. Here are s

Offense:

1. Players were indecisive when running the ball; especially outside on a screen play. A few times the runner wound up picking the wrong way to run.

2. Plays were very slow to develop, and Mizzou was too deliberate in it's execution. I know, they were like that last year, but I didn't like it then either. This game, they seemed to be running a scrimmage.

3. Working the left side of the line. It seemed Mizzou was working to the left an awful lot. I think this may have been because they were trying to get reps in for Fischer's replacement at LT. I hope that was the case.

4. Franklin just made some bad throws/decisions. With the time he had in the pocket, I was hoping for more out of him. He did run the spread in high school, so the concept isn't unfamiliar to him. I hope it was just a matter of getting his feet wet. He'll have to do a lot better in 6 days.

Defense:

1. They didn't seem to blitz too much in the early going. I hope this was an attempt to see what they could do without blitzing. Later on they began blitzing a little more.

2. The secondary didn't have a lot of ball awareness. I know it's not easy, but they sometimes have to read the receiver better, look back, locate the ball, and then make a play.

3. Bend, but don't break seemed to be in full effect like last year. I just don't think it will fly once we get into conference play.

All in all, Mizzou appears to have regressed a little. I realize a lot of that will be attributed to a new, young qb. I thought Franklin would do better, and he still might do so. I do know this: if Mizzou plays this way in Tempe, they will lose to the Sun Devils. If they could only manage 17 against Miami, how much can we expect against a BCS team. I'd say they have their work cut out for them. I hope I'm wrong.
