I agree andMitch should've stayed! Mitch was one of the better GM's in the league. Jimmy boy should've got let go on his on.

I thought they had to do that to meet the new c b a minHe used to be. Paying Mozgov and Deng 136mil was not a good move at all.
Should have been done long ago....the NBA needs the Lakers back on top.Looks like Magic will be overseeing things as we bring in a new GM to run the day to day. Holy crap

Goes a lot further - there is an interesting article and it explains it pretty good, but to summarized the Lakers failed to sign anyone over the years in quality free agents and they passed on some really good budding players. They could have accomplished spending the minimum without handing out long term deals. And do you know what the penalty is for being below the floor? You cut a check for the difference to be spread among your players on the roster.
I posted a link and Jeannie was upset that the Lakers gave away 136 million to two aging players and passed up on some really good talent like Isaiah Thomas. Carmelo for example signed with the Knicks because he didn't connect with Mitch or Jim and the same was with other playersYeah, cause they couldn't land any big name guys. We all know how that Aldridge meeting went. Mitch's last great move was getting Pau, he hasn't done anything great since. I'm glad they're cleaning house. Excited to see what this new GM can bring.
This has been a deal being processed for over a week and is old business, but what really sealed Jim and Kupchak's fate is when they could have had Cousins by letting Sacramento have Ingram.
hopefully ol' magic has a little more patience and attention span than he did when he wanted to get after it with the dodgers. gonna take some heavy lifting to get the lakers back to the forefront, that's for sure.

Trojan, I called it...............just sayin
Now the rebuild begins
I don't know if this timing is good or bad. Do they miss out on any deals as a result, or jump at an ill-advised trade without a GM in place?
