Looks like this is now official. I pulled my hamstring reading about it. A one year deal worth $2.3 mil with incentives that could make it $3 mil.

Or about what we saved this year on Ryans contract. Terrible deal in my opinion. Guys like Austin are a dime a dozen.

This is where you have to question not paying Maclin. I'd rather have Maclin for a few more million and some street free agents than guys like this taking up $3 million a year in cap space.

That is Rod Streater, Jermaine Kearse, Ted Ginn sort of money. He is much more accomplished than the other players in his tax bracket.

Terrible signing...What has he done the last 3 years?

Has he played half a season the last few years?

WTF.

We need a starting G/S not 5th WR's right now. You get them in the 6th/7th rounds.

He actually had a pretty good 12 games considering where he was. Not a bad cheap signing. Chip is assembling some speed on O.

It's almost like Chip is looking to sign injury prone players.

It's not my money so whatever ... but man, 2 and change for him?? If I were Randy Moss I'd be putting in a call to Chip.

This is a dumbass move in light of letting Jackson and Maclin walk for nothing.

And hows he the "4th WR?" Aint but 1 WR on the roster better than him. Yall twist and contort all kinda ways to justify Chips shitty GMing.

Makes me wonder if this could be Coopers replacement. No way Cooper graded out in any way to have justified his 5mil a year contract. What are the implications if we cut him before jun deadline??

Guys, this is a one year deal. People are reacting like they just signed him to a $100M contract. It's a decent pickup IMO, gives them some vet depth and he wasn't terrible considering where he played last year and who was throwing him the ball. Compare his #'s to Nicks instead who did jackshit with Andrew Luck throwing at him in Indy.

In 12 games with the Browns he almost but up better numbers than Cooper did in 16 games. He has had a couple 1,000+ yard seasons so he is a good vet to have in the locker room. I am hoping that Chip's sport science is the answer for a lot of these players. hehe

Signing a 5th WR changes the draft?

How so?
Changes nothing of course. It is just one more indicator they are focused on the defensive backfield on draft day.

They have more depth, and Chip is not necessarily looking to draft a stud WR, so it seems. This is another deep draft for WRs, so he gets another CB, safety, OL. and WR somewhere, or just takes the BPA in each round. He is not one who craves the highest rated WR in any draft. He just wants sure handed receivers who can get open and block. Last year, he wanted OBJ, not Watkins, Evans, and others, and as it turned out, OBJ was the best one of that group. I'm not giving up on Chip. I still trust him very much. We'll see.
