Oh God I hope not. Id much rather draft someone in the first round. But if he signs cheap just for depth then I guess that doesn't hurt. But by no means should he be the answer for Jmac.

Honestly if we can't get a guy we like in the draft, Austin will be the #2. He's a good deep threat when/if he can run.

He is not at this point of his career a #2. It's a depth sigining to be the #3 or #4. Good locker room vet presence. I don't think this will affect our ability to draft a receiver early at all.

ever since his career year in '09 he's pretty much regressed each year. partly due to injury, partly just due to ineffectiveness.

It doesn't affect our ability to draft one, but it does mean we have a body there if we can't draft one. And whether he's legitimately a #2 or not, he'll likely be lining up out there in that case.

I would rather Hakeem Nicks than Austin but either would be a 3rd or 4th reciever for us. So be it, its not a bad move.

Looks like this is now official. I pulled my hamstring reading about it. A one year deal worth $2.3 mil with incentives that could make it $3 mil.
