While we’re dealing with truth, let’s be honest here: a coach is only as good as his goaltending, and the Wild’s sucks. That’s the reason I left them on the outside looking in for the playoffs in our postseason predictions. That 3.02 GAA as a team is 24th in the NHL, after the Wild were seventh last season at 2.42. So either Thomas Vanek is a defensive cancer, or the goaltending is nowhere near as good as it was last season.

I agree, and I think not having a goalie is, you know, the GMs fault. That said, the team just looks defeated and sometimes the only way to shake them out of that is to bring in a new coach. You don't have to dig too deep into Suter and Parise's comments from this week to see VERY frustrated players. They dominated the first 10 minutes of the game last night, but one miscue and they fell apart. It's very mental right now. Now, I don't think that they'd necessarily be winning more even if they weren't as soft as they are, but I don't think 7-2 games would be happening.

Solid pick up. Really cannot hurt at this point. The guy has better numbers than Smith the yotes #1 goalie right now. Granted it is in back up duty but he has played solidly.

Don't go expecting a savior, but a move we had to make.

A visit to Buffalo is good for breaking slumps this year. Heck, even Vanek got on the scoreboard.

He just had to get straigtened out by Mitch Korn in Nashville, put up some pretty good numbers in Arizona. One one hand, I think the Coyotes traded the wrong goalie, but if the plan is McDavid, then keeping Mike Smith was the right thing to do.
