I feel like Rupp never played to the level he was capable of. You caught glimpses of it from time to time, where he could be an absolute beast in a game. He has a lot of skill for a big man, but not the mind of a big guy.
Happy he's gone. Not his fault, but Bylsma would use him so randomly on the PP and shit. I get that you like the guy but there's like 10 forwards I would put there before Mike Rupp.
Good luck to him. He's a good guy, both off and on the ice. He and his wife were very big on giving back to the community, and I think that's important for pro athletes to do that.
I'm going to miss Rupp. He always seemed to be able to jumpstart the physicality without resorting to the borderline hits that Cooke would lean towards. Granted, a lot of that became evident when both Crosby and Malkin were out and the rest of the team HAD to step it up. I'm not sure with both of them back, he wouldn't revert back to the old ways. And for that money he's not likely worth it.
