As pointed out in the article, the only downside will be travel, but the major plus is that the building will be filled for every home game.

I guess we will now know if it will impact the canucks. they will do very very well in abbotsford.

I don't think there will be much of an impact as far as the Canucks are concerned, the corporate support/schmoozing of clients will continue and there are plenty of fans waiting to get their hands on tickets. However, the Abbotsford AHL team will appeal to those families who want to see professional hockey and not worry about taking out a new mortgage to do so.

Hmmm, might not be a done deal after all:

Trade speculation recently has not been restricted to players.

Rumour had it that (deep breath) the Calgary Flames are pulling their American Hockey League team out of Abbotsford and relocating it to Utica, N.Y. This then paves the way for the Vancouver Canucks to purchase the St. Louis Blues’ affiliate (currently stationed in Peoria) and plop it in Abbotsford. The Blues, in turn, take over the Canucks’ AHL arrangement in Chicago.

That’s all well and good.

But all unconfirmed.

And, according to the Flames, it’s a bunch of baloney.

“On behalf of our fans and on behalf of our local partners in the Abbotsford Heat, we wish to emphasize that there is no ‘three-way deal’ (or any other deal) that will see the Canucks move their development program to Abbotsford for next season,” the Flames said in a statement issued Tuesday afternoon. “We remain committed to our fans and partners in Abbotsford and look forward to sharing many more seasons with them.”

Not sure if this has been posted.

The Minnesota Wild are reportedly set to move their AHL affiliate from Houston to Des Moines, Iowa, for the 2013-14 season, leaving America's fourth most-populous city without professional hockey for the first time in 20 years.

Who needs Miller?

David Leggio had another outstanding game tonight against the Barons. The Amerks won in a SO, and Leggio stopped all 4 shooters for the Barons.

Leggio finished the game making 40 saves on 42 shots, and is getting attention for League MVP this year.

He now has 37 wins with a 2.55 GAA and a .924 SV%. In the 60 games he's started, he has seen 2019 shots against and has made 1865 saves. The next closest goalie has seen 1595 shots against in 52 starts. That's a difference of 424 shots in 8 games. That goalie would need to see an average of 53 shots a game for the next 8 games just to match it.

With the addition of Hackett, I really thing Leggio will make it to the Sabres next year. What that means for Miller or Enroth, I don't know, but Leggio is already 28, and is proving he should play in the NHL.

What is with the Sabres having good goalies but lousy defense? Maybe that's why the goalies are so good, they have to be.

Other note, Larsson scores in the SO to help the Amerks win. He also has 3 points now in 4 games.

Shit!!!! The Amerks make the PO's in the 7th spot, but they face the Marlies in the 1st round.

Might as well congratulate the Marlies on the win right now. :L

Well if they can hang in there the Amerks will get some reinforcements from the Sabres when their season is over.

Of course, if they ended up in seventh place in the Western Conference, they’d again play the Marlies in the first round. That has the potential to be a very short series — again.

Last spring Toronto swept the best-of-five first round series. This season, the Marlies went 9-1 against the Amerks.

I hope they don't hold their breath.

Gregg Scott gets 4 goals tonight, and the Marlies once again hands the Amerks another loss. :L

Toronto wins 6-3 despite being out-shot 34-18.

We already have a hundred as it is, and I'm the only one posting in it.
