Brutal to lose guys during OTAs. Good thing we've got great depth almost across the board.

On the bright side, this should help the Chiefs a bit. Though it would be ironic if it caused SD to upgrade the pass rush by bringing in a vet.

I was never a big fan of the Ingram pick, but mainly because I wasn't sure he had a natural position in the NFL. Still, he can't do much of anything with a torn ACL.

Trade them Lemonier and the Titans third for their 2014 first round pick. :)

A 1-sack rookie season and an ACL tear isn't lookin' good for his career. I was pretty outspoken about how I thought he was a vastly overrated prospect.

He started what, 1 game? Hard to project this guy was a big loss considering he hasn't done much up to this point.

Trade them Parys Haralson for a 3rd or Ahmad Brooks for a 1st.

If you're the 18th pick of the draft and you only start one game (and only notch 1 sack the entire season), it's not a good indication you're going to be a success. I don't think it'll be long before people start using the B word.

...This is how much faith I have in Lemonier.

I would absolutely send feelers out on a move like that. I really like Haralson, and I think he adds a rotational option we didn't really have this last year. But with Lemonier, Cam Johnson, and Fleming, we've got a lot of youth at the position. If we could get something like that out of them, I'd jump at it.

Of course, Haralson would never garner a 3rd round pick with 1 year on his contract. The Niners would be lucky to get a 6th for him.

Is that the max for a desperate team or max for the market. I mean, we got virtually two seconds for what some said would be much, much less. One fourth turned into two seconds - so one sixth turns into two fourths or a third? See that math?

(I'm not serious about any of that last part. Just the opening question.)

I think a 6th would be the max for a 1-year rental on a guy like Haralson. He isn't exactly Demarcus Ware. And the Chargers are in re-building mode, so they'd be even less inclined to part with a high draft pick.

Consider that a 1-year rental of Boldin for 6 million got the Ravens a 6th rounder.

I'd consider a trade for a 4th. But I don't know about what Haralson would garner. SD is paper thin at OLB. Assuming Jarrett Johnson and Larry English are their starters, those guys combined for 3 sacks last year. That's brutal.

Because they were going to cut him regardless.

What was your Alex Smith prediction again? Maybe you should stop with the draft pick trade value predictions?
