Stevie Johnson mocks Plax and Holmes in his celebration dance yesterday and receives all this grief about him being the reason they lost the game. Allowing the shank on the proceeding kickoff to go by without any blame. I've never seen a shank on a kickoff on any level(HS, college, pros) until Sunday. With the new rules in place for kickoffs, excessive celebration penalties after TDs are less critical field position wise. A kick that would have at least went to the opposition's 10 yard line, ends up being only a 10 yard kick, "That's on Stevie" (Harbaugh voice)? As for the dropped pass being some sort of indicator that he wasn't focused on the game, he did have 8 rec, 75~ receiving yards, and a TD all on Revis. Nearly made an incredible Lloyd-like catch, skying over Revis on the sidelines, getting one mit on the ball trapping it against his shoulder, too bad it was out of bounds.

More evidence that the sports media is really spewing their hate was in yesterday's Eagles vs Patriots game. Every time Vince Young threw an inaccurate pass the commentator made it his duty to elude to Young not being able to be a starting QB in the NFL. Young put up 400 yards last night and Desean Jackson's drops in the endzone made his night statistically look very pedestrian.

Pre-five-and-one-Tebow and Paterno vs Syracuse media are other examples of coverage propagated to influence their audience to scorn at certain individuals.

The media has been out of control since CNN & ESPN first came onto the air.

I'd a cut that fool Johnson the second he hit the ground in that end zone celebration. The fact that he had to rehaerse that nonsense tells me he knew he was going to get a flag but didn't give a shit. His personal attention was more important to thim than his team winning the game. His shit would have been packed and waiting for him at his locker when he came off the field.

Johnson wouldn’t say if he rehearsed his 15-second performance, but it certainly had the moves and flair of a choreographed dance.

Bills? Stevie Johnson celebrates touchdown against  NY Jets by acting like he was shot in leg  - NY Daily News

It's funny that the article says it has the moves and flair of a choreographed dance. Johnson does a Yosimity Sam, falls down, spreads his arms like he's a plane, and falls down again; where's the flair in that? Premeditated dance? maybe, but I doubt he wasted time making sure he got his arms spread just right for the celebration. Anyways the celebration became excessive when he fell for the second time. Heck, if he jet planed off the field everything would have been alright. Assuming would have still shanked the kickoff, the Jets are still in great position to score.

Are you saying you condone this behavior?

Not classy but whatever, if someone else would have been shot it would have bothered me but making fun of a dipshit who carries a gun and has no idea who to handle it doesn't bother me.

Depends on the circumstance. If the team is getting blown out, then hand the ball to the ref and let's talk about how we can get back in this game.

But..

taunting does get in the head of DBs and boosts the confidence of WRs.

Me neither. What does bother me though is Johnson's blatent disregard for the welfare of his team and putting himself above their efforts. His foolishness helped cost them the game. Mistakes are one thing but blatently, purposefully committing a foul that hurts your team just for self aggrandizement is unacceptable.

How is this news?? Since there has been ways to get news out to mass amounts of people, this same thing has been going on. They talk about Tebow because that's what everyone wants to hear. And look at the guy play... I don't care that he keeps winning, he is about the 5th reason why they keep winning. So everyone is talking about him and its mostly about how he can't throw so I guess you could say it's negative. But I don't feel like they want us to hate him. Hell, that same media built him up for us all to love his whole college career. It is what it is. Deep said it best with "sensationalism" The media wants you to watch so they are gonna build the story up more than it is. And the best and easiest way to do that is to make someone the villain/scapegoat.

Mozart and others......why do you spend two seconds worrying about how someone celebrates a TD? The way people get so bent out of shape by the most stupid, trivial stuff would be amazing if it wasn't so predictably targeted toward young black men and that culture. Instead its just the same thing over and over again......middle-aged white guys getting angry at certain people and then trying to pretend its over "morals" or "ethics" or some other high concept. This is the reason we have 15-yard penalties for 'going to the ground" in the first place, stuck-up, intolerant white people who confuse fun for disrespect because they forgot what fun is.

Disrespect for the goals of your team in order to promote or draw attention to your own efforts, which were only made possible by the way, because of the efforts of your teammates is unacceptable. As far as your assertion that this is a "middle aged white guys against young fun-loving balck guys" thing; I'll just say you are an ignorant ass and you can kiss mine.

Maybe my favorite ever piece of dialogue from a TV show, courtesy of Deadwood.

Doc: (about Jewel) She wants me to brace her leg. So her draggin’ it doesn’t drive you crazy.
Al: So what’d you tell her?
Doc: Not to worry about your moods, that you generate those yourself and then find your excuse for havin’ ‘em.
Al: Saucy words Doc, good thing you're handy with the snatch.

You get pissed off about something in your life, then find an external reason for it......young black men and their behavior being one of history's main outlets. This basically explains about half of the crazy, ridiculous stuff you see every day out of people.

Its always the same with you, every time, and I know I'm not the only one to observe this.

You are the one who called out "young black men" as being the ones who are committing this abhorant behavior and blaming their race and culture for making them behave this foolishly, not I. I called out Johnson because of his behavior not his race. If he happens to be black and you take offense at that, well tough shit.

Well, at least we both thought the dialogue in the Deadwood series was brilliant.

Cry me a fucking river... I know plenty of black guys who react the same way towards celebrations as these "stuck-up intolerant white people." The only part that I agree with is the part where you said targeting YOUNG men. The athletes in sports are a lot more flashy these days and it rubs people the wrong way. But it was the same back then...look at a guy like Joe Namath. But there are guys out there who are "above the team" and "dance" to get noticed. It's about money and marketability. Not everyone plays the game to win and get rings. It's a job, that doesn't last very long so they need to get money where they can.

I don't give two shits if a guy dances in the endzone. Johnson did a dance that I thought was pretty funny, but then you gotta back it up and if you lose, then be prepared for the fallback. What bothers me is the guy who makes a routine tackle and runs 15 yards downfield to celebrate. Or catches a pass for a first down and does a dance. Guys like Freddy Mitchell, who make about 1 play a year, do that shit. I'm all for being fired up and having a good time, but act like you've been there before.

And don't lump me in the stuck up white people who don't know how to have fun category either... I was in Vegas this weekend throwing dice learning how to shuffle at the club. Yes... I was very late to the shuffling party.
