Since he hasn't changed anything, why couldn't you have just replaced his team (my old team) with me and then replaced tlance with him? I guess it doesn't really matter, other than some fun since we face each other the first week.

Easier to do this way. As long as you hadn't put in your own rankings it doesn't matter other then names.
