Section IV The Draft:

A random drawing will take place to determine the order that each team gets to pick their draft spot. For instance whoever draws #1 gets to chose what draft spot they would like first. Whoever draws #2 gets to choose what draft spot they would like second, and so on and so forth until whoever draws #12 gets whatever spot is left. Divisions will be determined by the draft spot chosen. Division A will be draft spots #1, #4, #7, #10. Division B will be draft spots #2, #5, #8, #11. Division C will be draft spots #3, 6, 9, 12. No trading of draft spots or draft picks is allowed.

I propose that the bolded section be amended to:

“Individual draft picks may not be traded. Entire draft positions may be swapped up until 48 hours prior to the draft. However, division placement is based on original draft position. Divisions will not be affected by draft position trades.”

I believe this proposal would be a valuable change because player valuation and draft strategy can change a lot between the time we select our positions and the time the actual draft starts. This gives owners an opportunity to move their slot if they find a willing taker. Since these trades won’t impact division placement, additional work for the commissioner is negligible.

While I disagree with trading draft spots in a redraft, I will not stand in the way of other people doing it as long as the divisions stay the same.

I'll use an example and everything

divisions are 1,4,7,10 / 2,5,8,11 / 3,6,9,12

let's say I'm 4th on the original draft order and I decide to switch with the 5th spot
so even though I draft from the 5 hole now, I would still stay in a division with 1, 7, and 10?

if so, I vote no. The whole point of staggering the divisions like that was to even out the playing field (whether it does or not)

Now, if I move from 4th spot to the 5th spot, and also move to the 2,8,11 division, I vote yes, cause I dont really care, as long as the divisional set up remains static

Your example is correct. You would stay in the division with 1, 7 and 10 while drafting 5

I think since we get to choose your draft spot to begin with, the ability to trade it is basically overkill. The only reason you would want to trade spots is if someone fucks up. If we were doing randomly selected draft spots, I would be for this proposal, but since we're not, I am against it.
