It's time he gets some Sh*t on imo

You come off a bye and this is what you have to show for it? The Patriots defense has been atrocious and gets picked apart with ease. Wilson carved them apart, wasn't pressure at all. Zone defense doesn't work anymore.

I hope he's holding something back for the playoffs.
I'd love to see them dial up more pressure but that isn't the issue. They contained RW for the most part. Which is a priority. Got some pressure on him. It's that damn secondary. Revamp the secondary.

Not sure what he can do. Belichick doesn't spend money @ CB and relies on developmental players... problem is, he generally sucks at developing CB talent.

He can coach a team to actually get pressure on a QB and not just sit back and play zone all the time

This.

Seahawk WR's just sat in the crease between two zones and waited for Wilson.
Sometimes those "Zones" need to be closer to where the WR is in order to make a play.

I think this goes beyond just Patricia though. When the Patriots have not been great at getting pressure on the QB they have played this bend but don't break style of defense under Belichick. He has lived by the thought that another team will make a mistake that they can capitalize on. It is why they give up decent yardage but are always pretty good in points given up as they clamp down more in the red zone.

And really right now for the Patriots because of that explosive offense it has helped mask some of those issues on defense as it just seems like Belichick has been trying to find the right combination of players hoping to maybe find a hidden gem but so far that just hasn't been the case.

They played some zone and played man too. They are just playing like crap in the secondary and the Safeties were completely invisible last night. So, it's not one guy or another, it's a systemic failure due to lack of talent across the board.

Not sure how you fix it.

Wilson was sacked more than Brady was btw - so at times the Pats got some pressure, but that simply masks the problem.

Safties were playing where they were supposed to play. Coleman may be the worst coverage corner in the NFL. His PI penalties always come at the worst time because he can't handle a WR with speed. Neither he nor Logan Ryan have ever turned their head when a receiver's eye have widened. Ryan bites for every hitch. And he bites so hard he's totally out of position to make a tackle or a play on the ball. Rowe hasn't been great, but he hasn't had anywhere near the practice or the game time the other two jamokes have. I've seen high school corners who can play better.

yes they suck but hello where the hell are the coaches? Correct me if I am wrong but isn't it THERE job to actually watch tape and make players better?!?! You can't just soley blame the players... Coaches need a hell of a lot of blame as well

I'd never get the chance, but I'd love to have the opportunity to coach the DB's for a week. I'd have half of them in tears by Wednesday. I swear I'd tape their heads and chins to their shoulder and make them play full speed for at least four hours looking backwards..

You would think the coaches would be doing this already.. Clearly not

Disagree.
Lots of pro bowl talent that is not utilized at times. That and lack of 100% effort.

Root cause, complacency.
They are good and they know it so they don't give their all and expect another to pickup the slack.

Well, they haven't faced a decent QB until Sunday... and they got tore up by Russell Wilson. I really don't think good is an apt description of Logan Ryan, Coleman, Rowe and Cyrus Jones.

Previous QB's faced: Landry Jones, Tyrod Taylor, Tannehill, Osweiller, Whitehurst, & Palmer - what a stellar group that is.

and they still got torched pretty badly by them. The DL also hasn't gotten squat for pressure on QBs

What can I say cd? You're spot on. Unfortunately for us Pat fans there has been a lot more bend don't break defenses.

Finding the perfect combination on defense is much more difficult than finding it on offense in my opinion. With a defense to be special you have to have talent throughout the entire group plus then chemistry to have that unit work just perfectly. IT is why so many teams that have elite defenses don't keep them very long as hard to keep that unit all together. So most teams fall into that category of trying to play that bend but don't break style. Belichick has just done wonders with it of being able to mix in enough variety to confuse even some of the best QB's and get some of those game changing plays. You throw in the Pats offense is maybe one of the most disciplined groups in the entire NFL where they just don't make those game changing mistakes. So with that combination (and doesn't hurt having maybe the best QB of all time) it has obviously lead to a lot of success. The Pats best seasons though in my opinion have been more when the defense has been a great unit. Just seems like when the offense has had to carry the unit at some point in the playoffs they run into a team that slows the offense down enough and the defense just isn't quite up to par. Still every team in the league would take the success the Patriots have had as very few teams in history could come close to matching such a run in such a short period.

Expectations were that the secondary had improved so much in 2015 that it would continue in 2016. It's taken a giant step back. Ninkovich has not fully recovered from his injury and looks very old out there. Sheard has been slowed by injury and doesn't seem to be able to play a full game. Roberts is a rookie and is showing real promise.
Nothing was clicking against the Seahawks and the D got burned. They have a couple of weeks to get their shit together before the final test of the season in Denver.
