TP6 showed some promise in his start, deserves a fair shot to compete in camp, but lets be honest, it is going to take a QB who can elevate the players around him for the Raiders to be successful, and still many pieces of the puzzle not yet in place. I hope Reggie too can be honest in his evaluations, and not just go with "his" boy.

What's hurting the Raiders now is this epidemic of injuries, especially on the defensive side. Miles Burris who had a routine arthroscopic knee surgery in January still isn't even doing routine drills. Kaluka Maiava is wearing a boot for a hurt ankle (hopefully it isn't a fracture) and he might be out all training camp. Pat Sims who we are desperately counting on in the D line hasn't participated in one day of camp so far. Stacy McGee is out. Lamar Houston is out (and that's terrible). DJ Hayden still isn't engaging in contact. Menelik Watson hasn't participated in one day of training camp. Tyvon Branch is playing through a foot injury and is limping on the practice field. Even the DT we picked up this week, Myles Wade, is out due to injury after his first day of practice. Jacoby Ford Swore that he would be back no later than today and he's still out.

And DA isn't giving us a clue about the extent or seriousness of any of these injuries. But the fact that today he said he's in the market for a new DT free agent leads me think that Pat Sims' injury might be serious.

Me thinks player "conditioning" has to be paramount as we work our way to opening day. This has definitely been one of our Achilles heel for far too long, staff needs to step it up and get the stationary bikes wheelin in every dead space available.
