That's not what you said, let me remind you and make sure not to summarize your words myself in a way that favor my own position, as you have in another thread.

You weren't excited that the Caps have a player who is lazy or unmotivated. You were commenting on the fact that this was some kind of fodder to throw in the faces of Caps' fans. THAT... is swampy.

I generally like Loki's posts, so I'm not sure where this is coming from. But I'll just leave it at that.

I have seen Caps fans (not here really) defend him in lazy moments. That's my contribution. :)

Wait, this is news that Semin has amazing tallent and choses not to use it? My favorite stat about him is that he scored 27 goals last year in 18 games. When he actually tries, he scores more than a goal a game

Let's make it a blockbuster...

Semin and Backstrom for Backlund, Stajan, and Hagman

Hey hey hey... The rallying cry is NOT "Trade Semin and Backstrom." We love Nicky and it would set back our progress towards a team made of entirely Swedish centers.

You trying to turn the Flames into the ex-Capitals instead of the ex-Leafs? ;)

Yes, when they defend him, I like to have pieces of evidence to use other than hearsay to back up my arguments. So they would have to defend him first (in a discussion, which occasionally happens) and then I would say "Matt Bradley claimed he didn't try." We debate on here all the time, so it's not swampy, it's forumy. I didn't say I was going to go troll a Caps board with this information.

Pretty transparent of me, isn't it?!? Hopefully Hannan can be as good this year as BMo was last year.

Hey! WE get to rail on our shitty, lazy player, not YOU people. ;)

I'm sure there are supporters - the guy is a 40-goal scorer after all. I'm sure you have Malkin supporters and detractors in Pittsburgh as well.

TRADE MALKIN!

That's more what I hear...that they still think he is somewhat lazy, but he's worth it.

I would trade Semin for a 2nd or 3rd honestly....or for some decent depth at center, just to free up the cap space and try and extend Green or Carlson before the season ends.

It's not that much of an option to trade Semin for draft picks of any kind anymore because of the Fehr Trade..

Yeah, Malkin can be just as frustrating. He's passionate though...he just has...moments. It's not being lazy because he doesn't care, it's just...I dunno, non-chalantness? He has brain farts which lead to frustrating turnovers. Not for lack of desire though.

At $1 million, not much of a risk. Can't believe you guys got him that cheap. I kinda thought he'd get a 2- or 3-year deal worth about $3 mil/per to be honest. At that price, I'm not sure why we didn't look to re-sign instead of adding Hamrlik. I think Hamrlik is a great pickup, but for the price, I'd take Hannan instead.

I can still see a play in my mind where he broke up a 2-on-1 just brilliantly. He also does a great job of creating just enough contact to interfere and slow offensive players entering the zone without enough to draw the actual penalty. He's not a puck mover that's going to spur a breakout, but he almost always makes the smart play with the puck and is confident in his own decision-making.

As a fan of the nuances of the game, you'll enjoy watching him.

What they share in common is that they are enigmatic and both just make dumb choices in judgment sometimes. I think Semin is pretty smart, but just lazy. I think Malkin is pretty motivated, but just dumb sometimes. I don't know. That's my cheap seats take. They are both frustrating for their fan bases at times and magical at others.

Yeah, I agree with this analysis. Hahaha, Geno is just *slow* sometimes.

Should rephrase. Can't trade semin only for Draft picks now. If we still had Fehr, I'd be okay with our depth at wing, but not now if we only traded Semin for just draft picks. We'd have to get a player too

Got it. I thought it was some crazy rule or something...
Thanks!
