some of the tightest owners in the game have a WS ring (Loria, Glass), but not one of the most free spending (Ilitch).

The Marlins can hit, though. I think they thought he'd be good enough.
Capps had injury issues and Naylor is blocked at 1B for the foreseeable future.
Thinking Cashner would be 'good enough' doesn't justify trading their #2 prospect for him. A below average pitcher in Cashner isn't even worth most teams' #5 prospect, let alone their #2.
It's not a stretch to think the Marlins could've either gotten a pitcher better than Cashner for Naylor, or traded an inferior prospect for Cashner and trade Naylor at some future point for a bigger return.
Maybe new ownership gets rid of those God awful colors and logo.
I love the older uni's.
I just thought I'd post this here since it's a Loria thread.

Drew Stubbs actually caught a fly ball behind that thing. The LF came over and wondered if he was supposed to take a relay throw ... Stubbs was in no hurry to bring the ball out.If it gets rid of that gay ass sculpture that sits just past the center field wall, I'm all for it. That thing is an eyesore. Dan Uggla almost broke it with a home run once.
Who thought that was a good idea?
