There's no denying he may well be on the trade block and that the M's are interested in him. I'm wondering if there could be another Pitcher for Hitter Trade Part 2 with the Angels. Obviously Trumbo is not worth Walker. What about Erasmo/Bartender for Trumbo? Maybe Paxton/Erasmo/Bartender for both Bourjos/Trumbo? We could then save the $ instead of going for Jacoby, and let Morales walk and just plug Trumbo in as DH and let him alternate 1B with Smoak/Montero.

Nope, I'm good. I don't want anymore Angels trash.

None of those guys hit 30 HR's either...

The thing is, hitting for power is the only thing Trumbo really does well. Doesn't hit for average and doesn't draw walks. He's a LF/1B with a career .299 OBP. He seems like a pretty decent defender at first.

Figgins was a good player in Anaheim. He batted .291/.363/.388 and stole 280 bases (while getting caught 96 times) while playing solid defense at 2nd. He had a .395 OBP in his last season in LA.

If all it takes is the Bartender sign me up for that right now!!! But I think Erasmo or Paxton are more realistic to give up. I like that he can play in the corner outfield as well.

I wouldn't give up too much for him. A lot of his advanced statistics from 2013 put him on par with or just slightly above what you get with Smoak. His career splits in Safeco are nothing to write home about either. Yes 117 PA's are a small sample, but it's still something to consider. If the M's want to go for him, they can I suppose, they'd just better not give up a Brad Miller or a Taijuan Walker for him.

30HR and 100RBI guys don't grow on trees and giving up a couple unproven pitchers is fine with me if we get that type of production in return.

No, but guys that can post an OBP around .300 or higher certainly do...

Funny, I had a running twitter debate with the Mariner writer who also wrote for ESPN. This was when League was here and had his All-Star year. I said they should trade League for Trumbo and he laughed at me and said Trumbo was the right-handed Carlos Peguero. He said Angels would have done it that year, but we would have been screwed in the deal. I love these experts.

Back to topic, I would take him for a mediocre SP which would be Ramirez or Saunders and I doubt they would take either for him. It would take Iwakuma or Paxton I am guessing.

Just a quick question....how far away from .300 is .299 in your world?

.299 is below the league average. Especially for a 1B/corner OF.

Thats not what the conversation is about...you said guys that can post AROUND .300 OBP or better.
.299 is pretty effin close to being AROUND .300

Trumbo went through a pretty prolonged slump this past season which drug his numbers down but overall he was arguably the Angels best hitter not named Trout. He was light years better than our current 1B situation so I don't understand why you wouldn't make a play for him.

He said guys that have around .300 OBP (Like Trumbo) grow on trees........which they do. In fact 131 players that had at least 500 ABs had a higher OBP then him.

OBP isn't everything though. I personally like to look at OPS, which Trumbo's .747 last season was only .001 better then Justin Smoak.

Say no to Trumbo.

if we could avoid giving up Paxton or walker im all aboard but I would give up neither in any package.Maybe we could let maurer and the bartender go and a lesser prospect but that's about all I would do for him. Yes the power would be nice but he doesn't offer all that much more

It would be nice to be able to trade away garbage for a decent offensive player, wouldn't it!!!!

LOL

I'm not a fan of trading for Trumbo at all, btw.

I want Trumbo AND Bourjos. I'm willing to part with Paxton/Erasmo/Bartender. You gotta give up talent to get talent. Plus what if we sign Tanaka? THEN would the deal make more sense?
