What are the rules? The 6 weeks are up. Do they need to be put on the 53-man squad?

From an admittedly quick look, the NFI list is functionally the same as PUP. For PUP week 6 is the first week eligible to practice, but they can start practicing within a 3 week span. From when they start practicing, the team has 3 weeks to activate them to the 53 man roster. If they choose not to the player is not eligible to return this season.

I remember seeing something claiming it was extended to a 5 week window to start practice, but I can't find that again, so that may or may not be accurate.

can they be in the film room while on PUP? At least learning something.

They are allowed to do everything with the team but practice, I believe.
