Very happy. On TV now and is very intelligent and only 20. Solid kid and a big kid. 6'4" 200 lbs at 20. Thought as possible overall #1 pick. I am happy.

Hmm.... quite odd. Was there a reason he dropped? Most had him pegged #1 overall and if not #1 overall the first hitter off the board.

The only thing I read as to why he dropped was because some worried about his competition at Mercer. Voters didn't worry since they voted him player of the year.

The only thing I read or heard was the same as what AZ already mentioned.

My personal opinion is that I think this draft had less talent separation as previous drafts so a lot of the top 30 or 50 guys had similar scouting grades so it just came down to specific organizations putting more value on different skills. Also I think there were a lot of teams that had guys rated really high, example: Braves taking Ian Anderson at 3, so with a lot of pitchers going early it gave us a chance to take him. I think we got a steal I am really happy with the pick.

Yah I'm thrilled with the pick too. Nice to get a power prospect to replenish our outfield once Cruz moves on. Feel like we haven't had a great (let alone decent) power outfielder since Griffey outside of Cruz but that was recent and he DHs sometimes.

Hits lefty. 5 foot 9

Kinda sounds like he can swing it but might not be able stay at third. Might have to move to outfield but from what I heard doesn't seem super athletic.

Lookout landing has an article why they thought he dropped. Either way I'm happy, this guy was #1 pick potential.
