Well we are nearing the halfway point in the schedule so I thought I would throw up some fun facts geared around Luck's statements at the beginning of the year about Dana or the program I should say needed to improve if Dana was to keep his job........

2014

W/L 3-2 won a total of 4 games this year..I think it's fair they to say are on their way to eclipsing a 4 win season.

2012

Total Defense: #112 472.8 ypg
Passing Def: #122 312.8 ypg
Rushing Def: #61 159.0 ypg

2013
Total Defense: #102 454.8 ypg
Passing Defense: #108 263.3 ypg
Rushing Defense: #91 191.0 ypg

2014
Total Defense: #44 358 ypg
Passing Defense #21 186.8 ypg
Rush Defense: #80 171.8 YPG

Offense Just decided to post overall........

2012

Total Offense : #10 That's with a Geno Smith and Tavon Austin combo....

2013
Total Offense: #63 This is with a musical QB year......

2014
Total Offense: #10 Back to a to a top 10 offense with a Wiry QB and an all world reciever.....

I don't know but it looks to me there is MAJOR improvement all both sides of the ball.......it's early and yes things can change, but how much really? This group has already gotten Alabama and OU out of the way...

Not looking good for the DANA hater's !!......

I'm guessing before they play their bowl game....Holgorsen is getting his extension!

At the OU game, you could clearly tell this is a good football team. Not a great team... but, a really good team.

Some interesting numbers at this point of the season. Townson helped a bit, but not to the extent of getting these number attached to the team especially after hanging with the #2 and #4 teams in the country at the time we played them.

Who am I kidding, you are part of the Four and are blinded by your infatuation withLuck and DH. Numbers mean nothing. We still lost to Iowa St. and Kansas last season. Your numbers prove that the cupboard wasn't bare, it was all due to coaching, especially DH. Poor time management by DH. This guy has the nerve to go out and have a cool refreshing adult beverage from time to time. He probably doesn't like bologna sandwiches (with a due respect Gold Rusher). And above all, you think John Talley still should have been a QB instead of a TE (not really, but thought I'd throw that in for old times).

Sorry for digressing. During the Spring game, the D-line looked a little light in both size and numbers. Happy Bradley is here and hope he stays to bolster that unit. Wonder what the ST numbers look like and who would be a good MAC candidate to bring in for that group. Maybe we should look at the Citadel. Isn't that where we found a good one a few year back?

I truly hope so. I had higher hopes for last weeks game but I was very disappointed in the performance.
Texas Tech should be a decent game and I think we can get out of there with a win but past that I have some serious reservations after what I saw Saturday and with some of the injuries/bad habits ect. that we are starting to accumulate. This schedule is just not very friendly for THIS years team. I don't think we are last year horrible (obviously) but I DO think if some things don't get corrected like TODAY then things could get ugly pretty quick.

Here's to optimism :suds:.

I failed to mention the program is on track to have the best recruiting class in it's history........as far as last week..I didn't get to see the game..all I know is by reading everyone's comments it sounded as if they played their worst game of the season...and still almost amassed 600 yards on offense!...and could have pitched a shutout on defense....if that is as bad as it gets I'll take a flat week like that anytime in which they WIN THE BALLGAME!!....:suds:

I know Clint was very hard on himself following the KU game. Dana and Shannon said Clint made some poor decisions against KU.

I was disappointed in the TO's and ST play, but I thought the team dominated KU from the start.

Hard for me to be too disappointed in a 19 point win after committing 3 TO's.

I went and met some old high school friends in Pittsburgh, so I left right before halftime. I listened to some of it during my travels, but guess I missed something during the game that has set many posters to claim that DH had poor time management, I guess right before half. When Imleft, I felt that we were in control of the game. BB - what did I miss that is making fans lose their minds over a time out in the first half when we had a sizable lead and a defense rolling. I could understand if it were close and we were chasing points or if Kansas found their stride, but I'm not sure what I'm missing.

You are missing the point that there are much tougher games than Kansas coming up. Holgorsen's clock management at the end of the first half damn near cost us the UMD game, hell, we got lucky they missed the false start on the winning kick. Just as games against inferior opponents are a great time to get some playing time for the kids who ordinarily wouldn't play, the coaches need to try to practice what they would do in a tight hard fought game.

Obviously… Dana is comfortable letting the kids play at the end of regulation without calling TO . In his post-game presser following the Maryland game, Dana addressed the end of the game management of the clock. He stressed that his offense practices like it has no TO's everyday… so, he did not feel the need to change what they were doing.

It was a similar situation against KU.

While I have to admit, it makes me uncomfortable… I hate seeing the clock winding down with use of running play, I cannot argue with the results. The offense gets the team in position to kick the FG, and Lambert has successfully made these as time runs out.

Play like you practice…

The same thing that always ticks me with his time management. Time is running down and he refuses to use a timeout. 30 seconds left and 2 time outs in the half, and they call a draw. No problem, great call, but use the timeout and save the 10 seconds that run off the clock. Nope! Let it keep running and settle for a 53 yard FG attempt... We could have had two more offensive plays, but he wouldn't use a TO.

BB, why can't you get it, the clock issues being referred to in the UMD game as well as the KU game were the end of the FIRST half, FIRST, FIRST, several of us have expressed this, but you keep talking the end of the game

It makes me uncomfortable too, because that S**t loses ballgames .

I wish I could put the issues I have with Dana's philosophies on the back burner but Ive seen (for lack of a better word right now) dumb things like that lose waaaayy too many ballgames in the past. My biggest problem is I feel sure HE has seen those same things yet.....:gaah:

TOs, STs, lack of a killer instinct...there is always something to complain about in a 20 point win when you should've won by 40.

We were really were bad last year, we look really good this year so far. Two top 25 teams and 2 top 10 teams to go still on the schedule. If those stats look the same in a month, then we have accomplished something.

Cautious optimism. I hope our season does not look like 2012 where we started out strong and faded down the stretch. A win this week will be another step in the right direction. But the haters gonna hate.

I see your, as well as BB and Golds, points of view. Maybe we get closer, maybe we don't. Maybe a play goes all the way for a touchdown. I don't know. Give the kid a chance to kick a closer one is always good. We can play the "maybe" & "what if" game. I missed the end of the Maryland game as well, but did not have issues with the events before the half of the MD game. I guess I'm of the mindset that if I have the ball and the lead going into half, then I'm alright killing the clock. I' m not going to call time out to "practice" calling time outs. That is simply ludicrous. Right now, I see getting the team up for the second half more of a problem that we have seen in past teams. Is it that DH has more confidence in Lambert than we do?

I know what you mean.

But, it has worked for him… so, it is hard to complain too much.

All of us can play the what if game. But, the truth is that at the end of the MD game, he had a game winning FG with 4 sec's left. At the end of the first half of the KU game, he had a chance to kick a FG as time ran out.

While it makes me nervous, it has been successful.

Playing the what if game… if a TO allows the defense to substitute personnel, the DC calls an elaborate blitz package… and the play results in a sack taking the offense out of FG range… or Clint fumbles on a big hit… and loses possession… all of the arm chair experts are screaming for Dana's head because the offense didn't execute a planned play during the TO.

That's true, maybe Dana knows the team has limitations and takes that into consideration in those situations :noidea:

Ain't that the truth. We will always find something to bitch about. There is always one in a group that will bitch about everything and anything just to have something to say. STs definitely has to get fixed real soon.

DAD, you didn't even watch the MD game. You really have no basis to discuss the issues. You've simply spewed on here what you've read on other websites.

Remind me again how Dana was bailed out at the end of the game when MD called a TO with 4 sec's left.

Like Slaton said, it appears ST issues is affecting a bunch of teams. Alabama is having their fair share of ST issues.

A ST gaffe against AU caused them a chance at another BCS NC last year.

It is unbelievable…

Are you REALLY trying to say that you would rather not kick the FG because you let 20 seconds run off the clock with two time outs in your pocket than to not get the FG because the defense made a play? WOW:L:lame:
