Good info Wizard. I wasn't sure how these incentive bonuses worked myself.

Clearly some of the teams don't as well. Had a couple of them violate the cap not long ago and caused penalties that were spread out to the other teams that raised their caps by that amount. You can't go over the cap, and you can't spend less than 88% of the cap either. So every team has to have something within about $13 of each other in any year and do so with all of those rules that confuse so many.

Bonuses do count toward the cap. There are two kinds: likely to happen, and unlikely to happen. With both there is a formula for figuring the average and that is used toward the cap. If more hit than the estimate then the overage is added the next year and those unspent the come under are taken off the next year. It isn't bonuses that teams use to spread out costs, it is signing bonuses.

No they don't.

I am not going to debate this but i will give you a hint.

This is what i say to the Niners but you can apply it to this if you wish.

What the fuck are you on about now? You drinking again? :noidea:

Signing bonuses give lots of room for tweaking on the cap, performance bonuses do not. If you don't grasp that you don't know what you are talking about.

If there is something in this CBA that allows them to not count performance bonuses then list a link to it. Simple enough to prove. I'm not aware of anything that changed on that portion of the rules. Last I read likely to be paid and unlikely to be paid were both counted per the formula and adjusted after actual pay/non payed. If it has changed then share it. In fact, that's all you had to do in the first place instead of triple posting and not being clear about it.
