Florida has eyes on Eagles head coach Chip Kelly

Thoughts?

I can't see him leaving. If you are successful at the highest level of football why would you consider going back to college. Most coaches go back because they fail in the NFL not those that succeed.

I would be worried if the team was struggling in his second year, but right now Chip probably thinks he has a chance to win a Super Bowl in the next few years, so he will stay. Chip has a great situation in Philly with full control, no need to recruit high schoolers, a good owner, etc. Florida is one of the elite jobs in college coaching but I think he resists the urge...

Why would he take a step backward? The team is doing great.

Can't blame Fla. for kicking the tires. Chip will decide when/if he wants to leave, but doubt it will be anytime soon. :-)hope: I hope!)

sounds more likely that kelly is just maneuvering for a raise....

"The two Kellys have been less frequently mentioned, Chip Kelly so infrequently mentioned that his candidacy seems to exist entirely in the idle thoughts of Florida fans. Chip Kelly's show-cause penalty for his role in Oregon's payments to shady handler Willie Lyles for "scouting services" doesn't expire until Christmas Day, as Dooley notes, which would make the job of recruiting — one Chip has never even feigned a passion for — difficult for him, and Florida's timeline seems likely to produce a coach prior to Christmas anyway."

Yeah, I think Chip is loving the fact that he can just coach in the NFL, and not worry about recruiting. He seems to love the process of scouting players and talking to them at the pro level, but he doesn't have to persuade any of them to come to Philly (except free agents). He can just recommend to Howie that they draft them.

I heard comments he made that he's happy in Philly and confident in the direction of the franchise.
