Which do you think OP is?

Because I bet he hits 1 out of 3 shots clean.

I don't consider that "consistent".
3 bad shots and 1 spectacular shot still gets ya par. I think it was Walter Hagen who said that.

You can post the fitter all ya want it doesn't apply to everyone.
You said he's a hack, he didn't say that.

What could a fitted set hurt?, not his game.

My Ben Hogan's feel left out.
I had McGregors, Spaldings, Wilsons, Palmers, and Nicklaus clubs when I was younger.
I have Ping because of the feeling. Was a Taylor-made guy for years then went Titleist, now Ping

...Spauldings...

In my junior year of highschool, I really, really, really, really wanted a guitar for Christmas. Christmas day came, no guitar box, but there was a long box. I thought I was getting a telescope. To my disappointment, it was a new set if Spaulding golf clubs. The next year, I used those clubs, and without having any lessons, lettered in golf. Thank god only 5 other people showed up for the 6 man team.:pound:

That's not true. You may very well understand swing mechanics and have a 70% gir . Your problem may just be putting. Most people that shoot over 90 generally have more than 2 putts a hole. I'll bet most who shoot 95 or better have 0ver 40 putts a round.
I know people who can get to the green and 3 putt, which costs them dearly.
Limiting your putts is essential to a good card if you have a good GIR percentage
Disagree. Anyone who shoots over 100 has way more problems than putting. If you hit 70percent of the greens in regulation, you ain’t shooting 100. Hell I don’t even hit 70% of the greens and I’m scratch

If you hit 70% of GIR you would need to average a 4-putt on every green just about to not break 100. And no one that can hit 70% of GIR is that bad of a putter.

70% GiR is just silly. If you are breaking 100 with then it's pretty clear where the problem is.

I'm carrying a 6 hdcp and average like 45% GIR. 70% GIR is silly.

I am around 15 and I think I could possible benefit from a fitting right now...but I really like my clubs and don't want to do that...I don't think it will make a difference.

Can you have a fitter check your current set and see what needs to be done to maybe help?

That's really the basis of any fitting. Take it what you have now. Talk about what you do and don't like about them. Check your measurements and then try out some alternatives. At the end of the day they'll give you a recommendation of your best set and fit and you can choose to go with them or stay with your original clubs. Typically, a portion of the cost of fitting will be credited to you if you buy the new set through them.

One word of warning - particularly on woods - is that custom shafts can sometimes cost as much as the head. My Ping G425MAX ended up getting fit with a shaft that essentially doubled the price of the club.

At 15, you are a prime case to get fitted.

I've been fit for my driver, driving iron, and putter.

We looked at my 4wood when I got fit for the driver and driving iron and with my numbers and general love of it, the fitter recommended against even messing with it.

I'm probably 3ish years from a new set of irons and will get fitted for those when I do.

I am considering lessons on a simulator this winter once tennis season is done...just to see if there are any tweaks to my swing I can make.

also I want to shallow my swing a little...get a little less wrist breaking.

I really feel like my clubs are right where I want them...but what do I know.

Yes. Club technology has come a long way. I have always favored getting the length of the clubs adjusted and proper grip thickness before any other adjustments. Clubs that are too long or too short can and will hinder swing mechanics. All the other adjustments affect ball launch and flight.

hey, do I know you?

of all the irritants that come with golf, 3-putting pretty much tops the list...

working on a bird? - damn;
now going for par? - fuck;
is that 7" a gimme? - for god's sake

If you have normal arms and aren't a T-Rex, normal length clubs are probably ok.

To test your swing vs the lie angle of your clubs
Put tape on the bottom of your club.
Hit a ball off of a piece of plywood.
See where the bottom of your club impacted the board.

If it's not in the sweet spot you could use some lie adjustment, either flatter or more upright.

My suggestion is don't pay more than $1000 for a set of clubs.

And figuring out your swing speed is simple....don't need to go through a fitting for that.

where do you get a set of irons for less than a grand?

I'm not talking walmart special with driver, tees, and balls included.

here: Home | Sub 70 Golf Canada

Check it out. My 699's (4 > PW) with graphite shafts ran $760... technology, quality and looks comparable to the best $1000+ sets on the market. Things are, as I've noted earlier, absolutely fantastic.

I'd start at Rock Bottom Golf

That's where I got my RSi2's for $650 in 2015

they have Callaway Mavrik's there for $700...I think those are the clubs gobucks bought before he died....maybe you can buy his second hand since he isn't likely to be using them anymore. @gob
