Texas plays 9 league games. They only have 3 slots each year.
Some leagues have 8 games. Those teams have more flexibility with 4 slots open.

Texas has 2 national games with USC. They are not cancelling USC for A&M.
Texas has 4 national games with Notre Dame. They are not cancelling ND for A&M.
Texas has 2 national games with Ohio State. They are not cancelling OSU for A&M.

That is 8 years of TOP FLIGHT games.
All are more valuable marquee games than A&M

USC, Notre Dame, and Ohio State are superpower national brand names.
You dont even cancel those $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ games for a regional second rate team. It makes zero sense.

The reverse is true.
USC is not going to drop Texas so they can go and play San Diego State instead.
Ohio State is not going to drop Texas so they can go and play Cincinatti.
Notre Dame is not going to drop Texas so they can go and play Toledo.

It's amusing how you horns are always banging the pot about Aggies cheating during the 80's and act like they were the cleanest program in the SWC. There were only two programs in the SWC that did NOT get spanked by the NCAA was Rice and Arkansas.

Texas wasnt totally clean in the SWC days,
But Texas really never did much more than tip their toes in the water.
They never got any serious penalties, infractions, or bowl bans.

They were essentially squeaky clean in the Royal era.
Royal had way too much clout to let Boosters push him around.

Once SMU and aTM started blatantly cheating at ABSURD levels, the Horns boosters put pressure on Akers to keep up.

But, they really only got a little bit into it. It was some nickel and dime stuff.

SMU got so ticked off that Texas reported them. So, the SMU guys hired all sorts of investigators and people to turn Texas upside down.

If you do a complete shakeup of any program, you will find some nickel and dime stuff.

All the Texas stuff was pretty standard minor things.

Texas was essentially doing idiotic stuff like not verifying reimbursed travel expenses.

Texas has never appeared on any of those 10 dirtiest program lists.

It is the Aggie, SMU, and Sooner trifecta that dominates those lists.
