I actually posted this whole thing on the other thread a few days back. They signed him knowing he would no be ready until the 2nd half of the season and they know history shows that we need two to three times the amount of pitchers in the second half so he will just be in reserves until called upon. It is a good move. The Ohtani part played a role as well I would guess.
